Barbados Pride delivered a clinical performance to storm into the CG United Super50 Cup final, as they hammered defending champions Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by a massive 153 runs in their semi-final clash at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday.
This victory propelled the Pride—who last tasted glory in the 2016-17 season and reached their last final in 2017-18—into contention for their seventh title.
Scores: Barbados Pride 339-7 (50 overs); Trinidad and Tobago Red Force 186 all out (36.3 overs)
After being sent in to bat, the Pride’s openers, Zachary McCaskie and Leniko Boucher, laid the foundation with a scintillating 142-run partnership. McCaskie, the more aggressive of the pair, entertained with a blistering 94 off just 82 deliveries, smashing six boundaries and six towering sixes.
However, his departure, courtesy of Mark Deyal, did little to disrupt the Pride’s momentum.
This, as Captain Raymond Reifer joined the fray with a brisk 65 and added another crucial 50-run stand with Boucher, who contributed a steady 69 off 84 balls in a knock that had seven boundaries. Reifer's 60-ball knock, which included six fours and a six, epitomized controlled aggression that applied further pressure to the Red Force bowlers.
Even when Boucher fell to Deyal and Kevin Wickham (14) went to spinner Khary Pierre, Reifer, and Roston Chase (43), on return from West Indies duties, added another 50 for the fourth wicket.
Chase’s quick-fire 31-ball knock, which had only two fours and a six, ensured the Pride capitalized on the foundation laid by the top order.
Reifer eventually became Deyal’s third scalp, and Chase went to Shannon Gabriel, but the damage was already done as the Pride were at 297-5 at that point. The lower order contributed the remaining runs to the daunting total.
Deyal stood out for the Red Force with figures of 4-53, but his efforts were insufficient to stem the tide.
Facing a mountain of runs, the Red Force faltered early and never recovered. The only bright spot in their reply was a 68-run second wicket partnership between Tion Webster and Amir Jangoo (16). Webster’s aggressive 56 off 47 balls, which featured eight boundaries and a six, gave fleeting hope before he became the fourth wicket to fall with the score at 91.
After Webster’s dismissal, Deyal (34) and Isiah Rajah (28) added a brief 53-run stand for the seventh wicket, but the Red Force were ultimately bowled out for a paltry 186 in just 36.3 overs.
Dominic Drakes led the Pride’s bowling charge with 3-24, with Chase (2-40) and Kemar Smith (2-42) also doing some damage.
The Pride’s dominance sets up a highly anticipated final against the winner of the Jamaica Scorpions versus Leeward Islands Hurricanes semi-final, scheduled for Thursday.
Defending champions Trinidad & Tobago Red Force comprehensively beat the Barbados Pride by nine wickets at the Queen’s Park Oval on Saturday to secure their spot in the semi-finals of the CG United Super50 Cup.
A delay to the start of proceedings due to some wet spots on the field from rain the night before meant the game was reduced to 45 overs per team.
Leniko Boucher and Raymon Reifer hit fifties to lead the Pride to 258-9 from their 45 overs after being put in to bat by the Red Force.
Boucher top scored with 81 off 72 balls including 10 fours and a six while Reifer hit 70 off 94 balls including three fours and two sixes.
Yannic Cariah took 4-53 from nine overs and was supported well by Mark Deyal who grabbed 3-32, also from nine overs.
An unbeaten 173-run second wicket partnership from Kjorn Ottley and Amir Jangoo then led the Red Force to 259-1 in 43.3 overs.
Ottley led the way with 112* off 132 balls including 11 fours and two sixes while Jangoo finished not out on 93 off 96 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes.
Tion Webster had earlier made 41.
The Red Force ended their league phase campaign with an impressive 64 points from seven games and will be one of the favorites to lift the title when all is said and done.
Despite the heavy loss, the Pride, with 46 points from their seven games, should still find themselves in the last four.
The Jamaica Scorpions all but booked a spot in the last four of the 2024 CG United Super50 Cup with an 82-run DLS method win over the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Friday.
After being put in to bat by the Leewards in the game that was reduced to 43 overs per team, the Scorpions made 264-9 from their 43 overs thanks to some smart and destructive batting.
Jermaine Blackwood led the way with 54 off 69 balls before Odean Smith provided some fireworks towards the end of the innings with 52 off just 33 balls including three fours and five massive sixes.
Captain John Campbell, moving from his usual opening position to number five for this game, contributed 42 while wicket-keeper/batsman Romaine Morris, who took the opening spot, made 27.
Hayden Walsh Jr bowled consistently on his way to figures of 3-33 from his nine overs while Jeremiah Louis took 2-30 in four overs.
Marquino Mindley was then spectacular with the ball to help restrict the Hurricanes to 182 all out in 34.3 overs.
Mindley finished with figures of 5-28 in his eight overs and was well supported by Jeavor Royal who took 2-20 from 6.3 overs and Odean Smith who took 2-40 from five overs.
Karima Gore and Jewel Andrew both hit 47 for the Hurricanes.
The win means the Scorpions end the league phase of the tournament at the top of the points standings with 53 points from their seven games.
The Trinidad and Tobago Red Force (52 points from six games) and the Barbados Pride (43 points from six games) are currently second and third and will face off on Saturday at Queen’s Park Oval.
The Hurricanes (38 points from six games) currently occupy the final semi-final spot and could book their spot with a win over the Combined Campuses and Colleges on Sunday.
Guyana are out having played all their matches and finished with 37 points. The Windward Islands Volcanoes have 31 points from their six games and could make things interesting with a big win over the West Indies Academy in their final game on Sunday.
The Windward Islands Volcanoes got their second positive result in this year’s CG United Super50 Cup alive with a 98-run DLS method win over the Combined Campuses and Colleges at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Wednesday.
In a match reduced to 44 overs per side, the Windwards produced an excellent batting effort after being inserted by the CCC.
The 2018 champions produced a score of 307-7 in their 44 overs thanks to half centuries from Alick Athanaze, captain Sunil Ambris and Kavem Hodge.
Athanaze led the way with 77 off 75 balls including 12 fours and a six. Ambris made a 63-ball 70 including eight fours while Hodge made an even 50 off 47 balls including five fours.
West Indies Under-19 captain Stephan Pascal also chipped in with 41 as Amari Goodridge and Romario Greaves each took two wickets.
Set a revised target of 312 off their 44 overs, the CCC could only muster up 213 in 36.3 overs before being bowled out.
Jonathan Drakes led the way with 55 off 68 balls against Shadrack Descarte who bowled with skill on his way to figures of 4-43 from 6.3 overs of medium pace.
Darius Martin and Kenneth Dember provided good support with two wickets, each.

The Jamaica Scorpions secured their third victory of the 2024 CG United Super 50 Cup on Sunday, defeating Combined Colleges and Campuses (CCC) by a comprehensive 128 runs at Queen's Park Oval. Anchored by a stellar century from Carlos Brown and a strong bowling performance led by Jeavor Royal, the Scorpions dominated both innings to claim the win.
Batting first, Jamaica posted an imposing 289-8 from their 50 overs. After a shaky start that saw John Campbell and Kirk McKenzie dismissed cheaply with the score at 11-2, Brown and Jermaine Blackwood stabilized the innings with a crucial 137-run partnership for the third wicket.
Brown’s 121 off 119 balls, decorated with 12 fours and five sixes, was the standout innings. Blackwood contributed 41 before falling, and later, Javelle Glenn (52) and Odean Smith (32) formed a vital 90-run stand for the seventh wicket, helping the Scorpions reach their challenging total.
Smith was eventually run out in the final over as Jamaica finished just shy of the 300 mark.
For CCC’s bowling, Mikkel Govia was economical, taking 2-31, while Akeem Jordan (2-61) and Amari Goodridge (2-38) also chipped in with wickets, though they couldn’t contain Jamaica’s explosive batting lineup.
In response, CCC struggled against Jamaica’s disciplined bowling attack. Royal was the chief destroyer, claiming 4-29, while Kirk McKenzie added pressure with 2-20. Smith, Marquino Mindley, and Brad Barnes each took a wicket, dismantling CCC’s lineup and restricting them to 161-9. The CCC was batting one short with Kieran Powell unable to take the field.
Former West Indies batsman Shamarh Brooks top-scored for CCC with 23, followed by contributions from Mikkel Govia (22) and Akeem Jordan (21), but their efforts were insufficient to chase down the target.
With this victory, the Jamaica Scorpions continue to build momentum in the tournament, powered by standout performances from both their batsmen and bowlers.
Amir Jangoo’s red hot form in this season’s CG United Super50 Cup continued on Saturday with a maiden List A century to lead his team to a 45-run DLS method win over the Guyana Harpy Eagles at the Queen’s Park Oval.
In a match reduced to 45 overs-per-side, Jangoo, coming off scores of 96 and 70*, led the way with 111 off 114 balls to help the defending champions post an imposing 288-3 in their 45 overs.
The left-hander’s innings included 10 fours and two sixes. Jyd Goolie and Kjorn Ottley also got half centuries with 68* off 51 balls and 66 off 86 balls, respectively.
The Harpy Eagles were then reduced to 201-7 off 39 overs when the game was called off for bad light with them 45 runs short of the DLS par score.
Kemol Savory was left stranded on 69* off 92 balls. Anderson Phillip took 2-37 from six overs while Bryan Charles took 2-40 off nine overs.

Kieran Powell scored his sixth List A hundred to lead the Combined Campuses and Colleges to their first win of the 2024 CG United Super50 Cup, a two-wicket victory over the Barbados Pride at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Friday.
Powell hit 102 off just 87 balls including 10 fours and three sixes to lead the CCC in a successful chase of 265, reaching 267-8 with five overs in hand.
The Nevisian former West Indies batsman was supported well by Shaqkere Parris who hit 44 while Jonathan Drakes and captain Shamarh Brooks also had a lot to do with the successful chase with 35 and 33, respectively.
Chemar Holder bowled with good pace on his way to 3-58 from his 10 overs while Jomel Warrican took 2-57 from his 10 overs.
Earlier, the Pride posted 264-7 from their 50 overs after losing the toss.
Kevin Wickham led the way with 65 while Zachary McCaskie and Leniko Boucher also got fifties with 53 and 52, respectively.
Akeem Jordan took 3-49 from 10 overs while Romario Greaves sook 2-47 from his full quota of overs.

Jahmar Hamilton, Rakheem Cornwall and Hayden Walsh Jr all played starring roles to lead the Leeward Islands Hurricanes to a comprehensive 84-run win over the Winward Islands Volcanoes in their CG United Super50 Cup game at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St. Augustine on Friday.
The Hurricanes, after winning the toss and batting first, recovered from being 68-6 after 23 overs to post 180 all out off 48.4 overs, a respectable total in the end.
Hamilton, who came to the crease at 23-2 in the ninth over, carried his bat though the innings on the way to a career-best 96* off 128 balls including just five fours and two sixes.
To put into context how crucial Hamilton’s knock was, Jewel Andrew was the next highest scorer for the Hurricanes with 17.
Kavem Hodge starred with the ball for the Volcanoes with 4-26 from his 10 overs while Darel Cyrus was good in support with 2-33 from his 10 overs.
It was then the turn of the Leewards spin twins to take over proceedings as captain Rakheem Cornwall and Hayden Walsh Jr combined to take all ten wickets as the Windwards were bundled out for 96 in just 21 overs.
Cornwall led the way with 6-26 off nine overs while Walsh Jr took 4-20 off six overs as the Hurricanes moved to 38 points from five matches to sit at the top of the points table, one point ahead of the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force and six ahead of the Barbados Pride who were doing battle with the Combined Campuses and Colleges at the time of publishing.
Alick Athanaze was the only Volcanoes batting to pass 30 with his 34.

Guyana Harpy Eagles were forced to settle for another frustrating no-result in the CG United Super50 Cup as persistent rain at Queen's Park Oval halted their match against Jamaica Scorpions on Thursday.
It’s the second time this season that the Harpy Eagles seemed well on their way to victory, only to have weather derail their efforts. This time, the Scorpions were struggling at 162-6 after 41.3 overs when the rain made its appearance, leaving the match unfinished and denying the Harpy Eagles a chance to secure another much-needed win.
Captain John Campbell’s 53 and Jermaine Blackwood’s unbeaten 63 provided the only notable contributions in the Scorpions innings, as a steady performance from the Harpy Eagles’ bowlers kept them in check.
Campbell’s 65-ball knock had three fours and two sixes, while a watchful Blackwood faced 91 balls in his unbeaten knock, which included six boundaries, but things seemed well-poised for another potential Harpy Eagles victory before the weather had the final say. Ashmead Nedd took 2-23 from 10 overs.
This follows another contest earlier in the campaign against Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners, where the Harpy Eagles were in command before rain played spoilsport.
Still, the former champions remain firmly in contention for a semi-final berth, as this no-result moved them to third place on the table with 28 points. Trinidad and Tobago Red Force currently lead with 37 points, followed closely by Barbados Pride with 31.
Meanwhile, Leeward Islands Hurricanes slipped to fourth with 27 points, while the Scorpions sit in fifth with 25 points. West Indies Academy (16 points), Windward Islands Volcanoes (10 points), and Combined Campuses and Colleges (10 points) complete the table.
Despite the setbacks, the Harpy Eagles should still fancy their semi-final chances and, by extension, their chances to lift the Super50 Cup title for the first time since 2005. Like the Scorpions and others, they will be hoping that they can avoid the unpredictable weather to possibly secure positive results in their remaining matches.

Joshua Bishop and Rivaldo Clarke were the main scorers for the Academy with 31 and 30, respectively.
The hosts then needed only 26.1 overs to reach 136-1 and secure their third win in four games.

In a match reduced to 41 overs-per side, the Hurricanes were first bundled out for 139 in 34.2 overs after being put in to bat by the Harpy Eagles.
Captain Rakheem Cornwall top scored with 36 while Jeremiah Louis made 34.
Justin Greaves, who came into this game on the back of scores of 111* against the West Indies Academy, 112 against the Barbados Pride and 151* against the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, could only manage 27 this time around.
Man of the match Veerasammy Permaul took 3-24 from nine overs and was supported well by Ashmead Nedd and Nial Smith who took 2-19 from eight overs and 2-42 from eight overs, respectively.
Guyana then needed only 27.5 overs to reach 141-2 thanks to half centuries from captain Tevin Imlach and Matthew Nandu.
Imlach made 69* off 76 balls, his third fifty of the season, while Nandu made a 74-ball 50.

The Jamaica Scorpions entered this year’s CG United Super50 Cup after a winless season last year and lost their first game to the Barbados Pride to increase that streak to eight.
They broke that streak in their last game with an 80-run DLS method win over the West Indies Academy on Saturday.
On Tuesday, they got their second win in a row, another DLS method victory, this time by 19 runs over the Windward Islands Volcanoes at the Queen's Park Oval.
The Scorpions, after winning the toss and batting first, reached 155-4 in the 31st over before rain brought their innings to a close.
Kirk McKenzie, on the back of 90 against the West Indies Academy on Saturday, was 59* off 75 balls at the time of the stoppage while captain John Campbell made a 49-ball 41.
Darel Cyrus had figures of 2-21 off 5.1 overs.
The Volcanoes, chasing a revised total of 205 off 30 overs for victory, were dismissed for 186 off 29.3 overs.
Captain Sunil Ambris led the way with the bat for the Volcanoes with 59 while Shamar Springer and Kavem Hodge hit 37 and 36, respectively.
Marquino Mindley was the pick of the Jamaican bowlers with 4-33 from six overs while Tamarie Redwood and Odean Smith each had figures of 2-31 from six overs and 5.3 overs, respectively.

All-rounder Kevin Sinclair will take no further part in the Guyana Harpy Eagles CG United Super50 Cup campaign in Trinidad and Tobago. The decision made by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) followed the submission of an internal report by the Harpy Eagles' management team that it was necessary to replace the player.
The GCB, in making the revelation, also announced that Kevin Sinclair will be replaced by Junior Sinclair in the squad at the tournament.
Though the GCB’s statement did not clarify if sub-standard performance is the reason behind Kevin Sinclair’s ejection from the squad, it pointed out that it was a “necessary squad adjustment.”
“Following an internal report from the Guyana Harpy Eagles management, it has been decided that Kevin Sinclair will no longer be participating in this year’s competition,” the statement read.
In the three matches played in the Super50 Cup, Kevin Sinclair tallied 14 runs and snared three wickets.
He made 14 from 16 balls against Windward Volcanoes and took 2-66 from 10 overs in the same match.
However, he did not bat in the rained-out contest against Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners and was dismissed without a score against Barbados Pride and only took 1-26 from 10 overs in that same match.
The Guyana Harpy Eagles are winless after three matches.
A similar situation arose last year during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 tournament when organisers announced Kevin left the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for “personal reasons.”

CCC, who were also seeking their first win of the season, were first dismissed for 174 in 39.5 overs after winning the toss and batting first.
Experienced opener Kieran Powell top scored with 46 off 42 balls including eight fours while Shaqkere Parris made 40 and Johann Jeremiah hit 33.
Jediah Blades continued his good form with the ball this season with 3-23 from six overs and was well supported by Zishan Motara who took 3-31 from his 10 overs.
Joshua Bishop also bowled well with 2-25 from 6.5 overs.
In reply, the Academy were 167-7 off 40.5 overs, 22 runs ahead of the DLS par score when the rain brought an end to proceedings.
Andrew Rambaran and Johann Layne put together a crucial eighth wicket partnership, helping the Academy recover from 118-7 in the 29th over.
Rambaran finished 37* while Layne finished 25* off 28 balls including two fours and two sixes.
Earlier, Rivaldo Clarke top scored with 38. Romario Greaves was excellent with the ball for the CCC with 5-45 from his 10 overs while the other two wickets were split between Akeem Jordan and Abhijai Mansingh.

Justin Greaves made history to lead the Leeward Islands Hurricanes to an impressive seven-wicket win over the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force in CG United Super50 Cup action at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Sunday.
Greaves, who is coming off scores of 111* and 112 in his first two games this season, became the first player in regional List A cricket to hit three consecutive hundreds when he hit his match-winning and career-best 151* to anchor a successful chase of 292 by the Hurricanes with two overs and three balls to spare.
The Bajan’s knock came off 129 balls and included 13 fours. Opening partner Mikyle Louis was good in support with 57 while Chesney Hughes and Jahmar Hamilton chipped in with 33 and 25*.
Earlier, the hosts made 291-6 off their 50 overs after being put in to bat by the Leewards. In form Amir Jangoo fell agonizingly short of a maiden List A hundred with 96 off 109 balls while Jason Mohammed and Tion Webster also got half centuries with 79* and 60, respectively.
