Cricket West Indies (CWI) has unveiled the 15-man squad for the upcoming CG United One Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh, set to take place from December 8–12, 2024 at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts & Nevis. The three-match series, dubbed the "West Indies Home for Christmas" series, promises to be an exciting contest as the West Indies aim to build on their recent success against England.
The squad features two changes from the unit that clinched a 2-1 series victory over England in "The Rivalry" series. All-rounder Justin Greaves and wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo have been called up to replace Hayden Walsh Jnr and Jewel Andrew.
Jewel Andrew, meanwhile, will join a batting camp at the Chennai Academy in India, focused on improving performance in spin-friendly conditions as part of Cricket West Indies' development initiative.
Justin Greaves makes his return to the ODI squad after an outstanding campaign in the CG United Super50 competition, where he smashed a record three consecutive List A centuries. His recent maiden Test century against Bangladesh further solidified his credentials. Head Coach Daren Sammy emphasized Greaves' ability to contribute both with the bat and the ball, describing him as a versatile option capable of batting anywhere in the top six.
Amir Jangoo also earned his spot following a stellar Super50 season, where he led the scoring charts with 446 runs at an average of 89.20. His inclusion brings depth and dynamism to the batting lineup, according to Sammy.
Head Coach Daren Sammy outlined the team's dual focus on short-term success and long-term preparation for the ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup.
“We are looking to broaden the pool of players while also focusing on winning series at home and building momentum from our recent success against England,” Sammy said. He also highlighted the balance Greaves and Jangoo bring to the team, noting their ability to add flexibility and dimension to the batting and all-round units.
The team will be led by Shai Hope, with Brandon King serving as vice-captain. Key players like Shimron Hetmyer, Alzarri Joseph, and Romario Shepherd retain their spots, while emerging talents like Shamar Joseph and Gudakesh Motie offer exciting options in the bowling department.

The series will begin on December 8, with subsequent matches on December 10 and December 12 at Warner Park. With the "West Indies Home for Christmas" series set to captivate fans, the team looks ready to continue their winning ways and fine-tune their squad ahead of next year’s global tournaments.
Cricket is one of the most unforgiving sports on the planet and every batsman dreams of a purple patch where every time they take the crease, they get a significant score or close to it.
That description is apt for the 2024 regional cricket season of Trinidadian wicketkeeper/batsman Amir Jangoo.
The 27-year-old left hander enjoyed a career year in both the West Indies Championship and the recently concluded CG United Super50 Cup that has a lot of West Indian fans calling for his graduation into the set up of the Men in Maroon.
In his five matches in the West Indies Championship which took place from February to April earlier this year, Jangoo played in five out of seven matches for the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force.
In those five games, Jangoo made exactly 500 runs in eight innings. Included in those runs are a pair of fifties and his maiden First-Class hundred, 218 against the Combined Campuses and Colleges in the penultimate round of the tournament.
This was after a score of 93 in the previous round against the Guyana Harpy Eagles.
On the back of that form, Jangoo set some lofty goals for himself in the recently concluded CG United Super50 Cup at home in Trinidad & Tobago.
“I had a few conversations with Sunil Narine talking about goal-setting. I wanted 350 runs and he said no, go for 450,” Jangoo said in an interview during the Super50.
He just missed out on that 450, finishing with 446 runs in seven innings at an average of 89.20 with one hundred and three fifties.
Interestingly, Jangoo’s 111 against Guyana, his first List A hundred, came on the back of scores of 96 against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes and 70* against the West Indies Academy.
“It was a bit of déjà vu,” Jangoo said of getting a milestone hundred quickly after missing out soon before.
“I knew that I was batting really well and a big score was around the corner again. It’s all about starting over,” he added.
Overall, Jangoo is pleased to finally have two regional hundreds under his belt.
“It’s an amazing feeling. It’s always played on my mind mentally so, to get past that hurdle is an amazing feeling. I’m grateful for it,” he said.
So, the question remains: what is behind this run of good form for Jangoo?
“It is a challenge but at the end of the day, I think something that changed with me and has taken me throughout my career, so far, is setting my standard higher for myself now to go on to the next level,” Jangoo offered.
“I really want to play for the West Indies and don’t want to be stuck at the First-Class level alone so it’s all about having your standards really high and that’s what I’m doing for all these tournaments now,” he added.
Jangoo mentioned changes in his training regime that have helped him physically and mentally but, in order to make it to the top level, he knows what matters most.
“It’s all about putting the numbers on the board. At this stage of my career, that’s all I’m focused on doing now,” he said.
Defending champions Trinidad & Tobago Red Force comprehensively beat the Barbados Pride by nine wickets at the Queen’s Park Oval on Saturday to secure their spot in the semi-finals of the CG United Super50 Cup.
A delay to the start of proceedings due to some wet spots on the field from rain the night before meant the game was reduced to 45 overs per team.
Leniko Boucher and Raymon Reifer hit fifties to lead the Pride to 258-9 from their 45 overs after being put in to bat by the Red Force.
Boucher top scored with 81 off 72 balls including 10 fours and a six while Reifer hit 70 off 94 balls including three fours and two sixes.
Yannic Cariah took 4-53 from nine overs and was supported well by Mark Deyal who grabbed 3-32, also from nine overs.
An unbeaten 173-run second wicket partnership from Kjorn Ottley and Amir Jangoo then led the Red Force to 259-1 in 43.3 overs.
Ottley led the way with 112* off 132 balls including 11 fours and two sixes while Jangoo finished not out on 93 off 96 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes.
Tion Webster had earlier made 41.
The Red Force ended their league phase campaign with an impressive 64 points from seven games and will be one of the favorites to lift the title when all is said and done.
Despite the heavy loss, the Pride, with 46 points from their seven games, should still find themselves in the last four.
Amir Jangoo’s red hot form in this season’s CG United Super50 Cup continued on Saturday with a maiden List A century to lead his team to a 45-run DLS method win over the Guyana Harpy Eagles at the Queen’s Park Oval.
In a match reduced to 45 overs-per-side, Jangoo, coming off scores of 96 and 70*, led the way with 111 off 114 balls to help the defending champions post an imposing 288-3 in their 45 overs.
The left-hander’s innings included 10 fours and two sixes. Jyd Goolie and Kjorn Ottley also got half centuries with 68* off 51 balls and 66 off 86 balls, respectively.
The Harpy Eagles were then reduced to 201-7 off 39 overs when the game was called off for bad light with them 45 runs short of the DLS par score.
Kemol Savory was left stranded on 69* off 92 balls. Anderson Phillip took 2-37 from six overs while Bryan Charles took 2-40 off nine overs.

The win moves the Red Force back to the top of the points standings with 48 from five games, 10 points ahead of the Leeward Islands Hurricanes and 14 ahead of the Barbados Pride in third.
The Harpy Eagles are four points ahead of the Jamaica Scorpions in fourth with 28.
Hosts and defending champions, the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, moved to the top of the table in the CG United Super50 Cup with a dominant nine-wicket win over the West Indies Academy at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground in St. Augustine on Thursday.
The Red Force first dismissed the Academy for a subpar 135 off 34.2 overs after winning the toss and putting them in to bat.
Yannic Cariah was the pick of the bowlers with 4-37 from 8.2 overs and was well supported by fellow spinners Khary Pierre and Bryan Charles who took 3-14 from eight overs and 2-23 from seven overs, respectively.
Joshua Bishop and Rivaldo Clarke were the main scorers for the Academy with 31 and 30, respectively.
The hosts then needed only 26.1 overs to reach 136-1 and secure their third win in four games.
Amir Jangoo top scored with 70* off 78 balls, backing up his 96 scored against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes, while Kjorn Ottley supported well with 42*.

After missing out on selection for last year’s Cricket West Indies Regional Super50, Amir Jangoo is not only happy to be included in Trinidad and Tobago’s squad for this year’s edition of the tournament, but he is also aiming to make the most of the opportunity.
The wicketkeeper/batsman, who has been enjoying a rich vein of form so far this year, has his sights set on maintaining that positive run to assist Trinidad and Tobago Red Force defend their title in the October 29 to November 23 tournament.
Jangoo tallied 500 runs for the Red Force in five regional four-day matches earlier this year, as he ended as the Twin Island Republic’s leading run scorer and the fourth-highest scorer in the competition. He was only bettered by Mikyle Louis (682 runs), Kraigg Brathwaite (565), and Kevin Sinclair (508).
The 27-year-old Jangoo, who also notched a maiden First-Class hundred during that tournament when he scored 218 against the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) Marooners, was named the TT Cricket Board's (TTCB) National Cricketer of the Year earlier this month, a feat that has significantly boosted his confidence.
“Getting the award is just the beginning. It's basically a foundation for bigger things I want to achieve, like making the West Indies team. At this level, it's all about consistency, so I'm looking forward to the Super50 tournament, and I want to dominate that, as well as the upcoming four-day season next year," Jangoo told Newsday in a recent interview.
“I want to really push and go on to better things. I'll definitely say I'm in the best form of my life. It's all about how well you can develop your game and how quickly as well. Being 27, I've learnt a lot, and I'm in a pretty good space in my career right now,” he added.
Jangoo attributed his improvements to advice from compatriot and West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Nicholas Pooran.
"Pooran did some one-on-one work with us batsmen, and I think that actually helped me to understand my game a bit more. I actually just kept working on certain things with my technique. It was all about batting for longer periods of time and doing the right things for longer. That's what I really worked on,” Jangoo shared.
With Pooran’s advice still fresh in his mind, the left-hander pointed out that he is locked in and ready to go as Trinidad and Tobago Red Force is set to open their campaign against the Marooners on Tuesday.
“I really want to play the best for the team, whether it's keeping wicket or batting at the top or middle of the order. It's about adapting my game to the team's benefit,” he declared.
West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Joshua Da Silva has been appointed as captain of the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force for the 2024 edition of the CG United Super50 Cup beginning on October 29.
The 26-year-old replaces previous captain Darren Bravo who has not been selected in a Red Force squad that includes six changes from the team that won the 2023 title.
Amir Jangoo, Jyd Goolie, Bryan Charles, Isaiah Rajah, Anderson Phillip, and Joshua James have all been included.
Nicholas Pooran, Akeal Hosein, Evin Lewis, and Jayden Seales will miss out on most of the tournament due to West Indies duty.
The Red Force open their campaign against the CCC in St. Augustine on October 29.
They also play the Windward Islands (November 1), Leeward Islands (November 3), West Indies Academy (November 7), Guyana (November 9), Jamaica (November 12) and Barbados (November 16) in preliminary round play.
The semifinals are set for November 20 and 21 with the final scheduled for November 23 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

A fifth first class century by captain Joshua Da Silva rescued Trinidad and Tobago Red Force from an ominous position, and into the ascendancy in their final round West Indies Championship encounter against Jamaica Scorpions at Sabina Park.
Da Silva’s 106 off 140 ball, took Red Force from 96-4 to 308-7 at close of Wednesday’s first day. The wicketkeeper/batsman struck 15 fours and one six in his knock, as he shared in an 80-run fifth-wicket stand with Amir Jangoo, who continued his rich vein of form with a 90-ball 51 off.
Terrance Hinds, unbeaten on 21, and Khary Pierre, on one, will resume batting for Red Force on Thursday.
Spinners Peat Salmon (2-68) and Jeavor Royal (2-76) have taken most wickets so far for the Scorpions.

After being asked to take first strike, Red Force lost Cephas Cooper (12) early, but a 52-run second-wicket partnership between Kjorn Ottley (45) and Jyd Goolie (19), steadied the innings at 81-1, before Salmon and Royal grabbed three quick wickets for 15 runs.
That brought Da Silva and Jangoo together and the two steadied the Red Force innings from 96-4. Jangoo stroked seven boundaries and a six, before he was removed by Ojay Shields.
Still, Da Silva pushed on, adding another 92 runs in a sixth-wicket stand with Navin Bidaisee (31), but eventually went to Royal, after adding 36 for the seventh wicket with Hinds.

Big scores and wickets were the name of the game as both batsmen and bowlers thrived in round six of the 2024 West Indies Championship.
Across the four matches played from April 10-13 last week, eight centuries were scored and six five-wicket hauls were recorded.
The biggest knock came during the game between the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force and Combined Campuses & Colleges at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground where Amir Jangoo belted the CCC bowling all over the place on the way to a wonderful 218.
His knock, his first century in first-class cricket, came off 238 balls and included 15 fours and 10 sixes.
In that very same innings, 37-year-old Jason Mohammed recorded his 13th hundred in first-class cricket with 157 off 228 balls including 22 fours.
The game between the Barbados Pride and the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at the Queen’s Park Oval saw the teams combine for four centuries between them.
West Indies Test Captain Kraigg Brathwaite scored the biggest of the match with a marathon 400-ball 189 including 17 fours.
His opening partner Zachary McCaskie, who was a member of the most recent West Indies Test squad on their tour to Australia, hit 12 fours and two sixes on the way to 101 off 148 balls and shared in a 171-run first wicket partnership with his skipper in the first innings.
All-rounder Roston Chase was the third Bajan centurion of the game with an attacking 87-ball 127 including nine fours and seven sixes.
West Indies ODI team member Keacy Carty got the Hurricanes’ lone century in the game with 127 off 233 balls including 12 fours. Carty now has three first-class centuries to his name.
Kemol Savory and Captain Tevin Imlach both brought up centuries for the Guyana Harpy Eagles against the Jamaica Scorpions at Sabina Park.
Savory made a career best 155 off 309 balls including 16 fours and three sixes while Imlach made 101* off 169 balls including 11 fours and two sixes.
In the bowling department, Roston Chase took 7-67 in the second innings for the Pride against the Hurricanes.
Pacer Gilon Tyson grabbed 5-50 for the Windward Islands Hurricanes in the first innings against the West Indies Academy.
Veerasammy Permaul spun a web against the Scorpions on his way to 5-55 in the first innings.
Pacers Anderson Phillip and Amari Goodridge picked up 5-71 and 5-92 for the Red Force and the CCC, respectively, while Rakheem Cornwall took 5-132 against the Pride.
The Barbados Pride completed a nine-wicket victory over the Leeward Islands Hurricanes on day four of their sixth round West Indies Championship clash at the Queen’s Park Oval on Saturday.
The Hurricanes started day three 98-1 off 32.1 overs after being asked to follow-on by the Bajans and eventually made 311 all out off 101.2 overs.
Mikyle Louis got his second half century of the match with a 194-ball 80 including eight fours and two sixes while Keacy Carty, who scored 127 in the first innings, followed that up with 69 off 112 balls including five fours and a six.
Hayden Walsh Jr also contributed well with 60 from 92 balls including four fours and three sixes.
Roston Chase, who got a hundred with the bat, completed an excellent all-round performance with 7-67 off 33.2 overs to finish with a match haul of 10-104.
Needing just 58 to win, Barbados lost only one wicket on the way to their target. They finished 58-1 off 10.4 overs with skipper Kraigg Brathwaite, who hit 189 in the first innings, finishing 30*.

Despite fighting knocks from Damel Evelyn (73), Demario Richards (66), Shamarh Brooks (62) and Romario Greaves (47), the target proved to be too much as they were eventually dismissed for 325 in 108.3 overs.
Bryan Charles and Khary Pierre did the bulk of the damage for the Red Force with 4-46 from 23.3 overs and 3-90 from 40 overs, respectively.

The Windward Islands Volcanoes moved back to the top of the table in the 2024 West Indies Championship thanks to a 158-run win over the West Indies Academy on day three at Coolidge on Friday.
The Volcanoes started the day 165-7 off 60 overs and batted beautifully to reach 275 off 93 overs.
The recovery was thanks to handy knocks from Sunil Ambris (41), Shamar Springer (47) and Ryan John (20).
Joshua Bishop finished with 4-78 from 38 overs while Ashmead Nedd took 3-65 from 32 overs.
Needing 280 to win, the Academy were swiftly bundled out for just 121 off 34.4 overs.
Teddy Bishop was the only Academy batsman to produce a meaningful score with 47 as Springer took4-30 from 9.4 overs to complete a fine all-round performance.

At Sabina Park, the Jamaica Scorpions will need a further 296 runs to win with eight wickets in hand on Saturday.
The Scorpions started the day 153-9 off 61 overs and the Harpy Eagles needed just one delivery to bring the innings to a close giving them a 271-run first innings lead.
Guyana then batted again, reaching 147-4 off 35.3 overs before declaring and leaving the hosts needing 418 for victory.
Captain Tevin Imlach followed up his unbeaten 101 in the first innings with 44 in the second innings while Kevin Sinclair made 36 against 2-39 off 11.3 overs from Derval Green.
The Scorpions then ended day three 121-2 off 43 overs with Kirk McKenzie (39*) and Captain Brandon King (13*) at the crease. Debutant Javaughn Buchanan earlier made 39.

The Trinidadian bowling effort was led by Anderson Phillip who took 5-71 from 22 overs.
The Red Force then batted a second time and made 95-2 off 17 overs before declaring with a lead of 448.
First innings centurions Jason Mohammed and Amir Jangoo led the way for the Red Force once again with 41* and 34*, respectively.
At stumps on day three, the CCC reached 67-1 off 21 overs with Damel Evelyn (43*) and Zishan Motara (0*) at the crease.

At Queen’s Park Oval, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes trail the Barbados Pride by 156 runs following on with nine wickets remaining heading into day four on Saturday.
The Leewards entered day three 97-1 off 37 overs with Keacy Carty (67*) and Mikyle Louis (25*) at the crease.
The pair added a further 83 before Louis became the day’s first wicket for 52 in the 64th over. His innings came off a mammoth 189 balls and included only four fours.
Carty continued on to post a formidable 127 off 233 balls including 12 fours.
Jewel Andrew also hit 53 as the hurricanes ended up being bowled out for 288 off 93.2 overs.
Roston Chase took 3-47 from 14 overs for the Pride while Shaquille Cumberbatch took 3-48 from 15 overs.
Following on, the Leewards ended day three 98-1 off 32.1 overs with Louis on 45*. Kieran Powell was the lone wicket to fall for a 76-ball 52.

Kemol Savory, Tevin Imlach and Veerasammy Permaul played starring roles to help the Guyana Harpy Eagles dominate the Jamaica Scorpions on day two of their sixth round West Indies Championship fixture at Sabina Park.
The Harpy Eagles started Thursday’s second day 278-7 off 88 overs with Savory and Imlach unbeaten on 127* and 33*, respectively.
The pair brought the score up to 342 in the 105th over before Savory fell for a fantastic 155. His knock lasted 309 balls and included 16 fours and three sixes.
Imlach went on to finish on 101*, his second hundred in a row, off 169 balls including 11 fours and two sixes as the Harpy Eagles were eventually bowled out for a massive 424 off 116.3 overs.
Ojay Shields finished with 4-103 off 23 overs for the Scorpions while Peat Salmon took 3-117 from his 29 overs.
Veerasammy Permaul then worked his magic to rip through the Scorpions batting on the way to 5-55 from his 21 overs to leave the hosts reeling at 153-9 off 61 overs at stumps, trailing by 271 runs.
Captain Brandon King has top-scored so far for the Scorpions with 32. Isai Thorne has provided good support for Permaul with 2-19 from his eight overs.

CCC were then restricted to 109-5 at stumps. Kamil Pooran led the way with 40 while Anderson Phillip and Terrance Hinds have both taken two wickets, each.

Carlon Bowen-Tuckett top-scored with 36* as Gilon Tyson ended with 5-50 from 13.4 overs for the Volcanoes.
West Indies Test batsmen Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge led the way in the second innings for the Windwards with 89 and 41, respectively, but good bowling from the Academy meant the Volcanoes were 165-7 off 60 overs at stumps.

The latest round of matches in the 2024 West Indies Championships kicked off with a flurry of runs on Wednesday, with impressive batting displays across multiple venues.
At the Sir Frank Worrell Ground in St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force dominated proceedings against Combined Colleges and Campuses, amassing a formidable 374-4 by stumps. Jason Mohammed led the charge with a magnificent 157, laced with 22 boundaries, before departing late in the day. Amir Jangoo provided solid support with an unbeaten 151, guiding Trinidad and Tobago towards a commanding position. Opener Kjorn Ottley's contribution of 47 earlier in the innings set the tone for the Red Force's batting onslaught.
Initially, Amari Goodridge posed a threat for Combined Colleges and Campuses, claiming key wickets including Ottley and Vikash Mohan early on. However, Mohammed and Jangoo's partnership proved unyielding, frustrating the opposition bowlers and propelling their team to a dominant position at the close of play. Goodridge finished the day with commendable figures of 3-37.
Over at the Queen’s Park Oval, Barbados Pride batters also shone brightly against Leeward Islands Hurricanes, posting a respectable 248-3 at stumps. Kraigg Brathwaite anchored the innings with an unbeaten 117 off 275 deliveries, while Zachary McCaskie notched his maiden List A century with an aggressive 101 from 148 balls. Their opening partnership laid a solid foundation until Justin Greaves broke through by dismissing McCaskie.
Despite Rahkeem Cornwall's efforts for Leeward Islands, picking up crucial wickets including Raymon Reifer and Johnathan Drakes, Barbados remained in control by day's end. Cornwall finished with figures of 2-70, while Greaves contributed with 1-32.
Meanwhile, at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, the match between Windward Islands Volcanoes and West Indies Academy was impacted by rain. The Volcanoes were dismissed for 162, with Shamar Springer top-scoring with 31 runs. Joshua Bishop was the pick of the bowlers for West Indies Academy, claiming four wickets for 24 runs.
In response, West Indies Academy struggled at 99-5 before rain interrupted play. Kadeem Alleyne was the top-scorer with 35 runs. Gilon Tyson made inroads with the ball for the Volcanoes, picking up 2 wickets for 30 runs.
A four-wicket haul from Jason Holder put the Barbados Pride in a strong position over the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force at stumps on day one of their fifth round 2024 West Indies Championship fixture at the Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday.
Holder starred with 4-47 from 17 overs as the Pride restricted the Red Force to 172 all out from just 53.5 overs after the Red Force won the toss.
Amidst the carnage, Amir Jangoo played brilliantly to finish 93* off 159 balls including 14 fours.
Chemar Holder and Shaquille Cumberbatch provided good support for Holder with 3-28 off 10.5 overs and 3-50 off 11 overs, respectively.
At stumps, the Pride reached 99-4 off 35.4 overs. Zachary McCaskie top scored with 46 while captain Kraigg Brathwaite made 30.

A well-played century by Jyd Goolie upstaged Ashmead Nedd’s six-wicket haul as Trinidad and Tobago Red Force tightened their grip on the West Indies Championship contest against West Indies Academy at Conaree Sports Club, in St Kitts.
Goolie’s 113, his second First Class century, propelled Red Force to 329, a first innings lead of 166, which West Indies Academy is struggling to get to, as they ended Thursday’s second day at 84-3. Mbeki Joseph, on 34, and captain Nyeem Young, on three, were at the crease for West Indies Academy, who are still 82 runs behind.

Earlier, the 26-year-old Goolie, who resumed on 15, patiently played his way to top score in the Red Force innings, stroking 10 fours and two sixes in the 248-ball knock. His partnership with Amir Jangoo (40), who added only 16 to his overnight score of 24, easily pushed Red Force past the 35-run deficit from overnight.
However, both were later included in Nedd’s six scalps, along with Tion Webster (nine), Anderson Phillip (16), Jayden Seales (zero), and Jason Mohammed, who went for five on Wednesday’s first day. Bryan Charles was left unbeaten on 25.
Nedd ended with 6-78 in 36.4 overs, including nine maidens, with support from Joshua Bishop, who had 3-116.
Like it was in their first innings, West Indies Academy’s top order again failed to really fire, leaving them with an uphill task to not only overturn the current deficit, but to also put a substantial score on the board to challenge the Red Force, if they are required to bat a second time.
Bryan Charles removed Rashawn Worrell (12) and Ackeem Aguste (34), while Anderson Phillip accounted for Kadeem Alleyne, who went without scoring.
