Darnell Nurse scored 80 seconds into overtime and the Edmonton Oilers matched a franchise record with their ninth straight victory, 3-2 over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.

Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman had the other goals for the Oilers, who also won nine in a row late last season and in 2001. They can break the team mark on Saturday night in Montreal.

McDavid extended his point streak to nine games and notched the 906th of his career, pulling him into a fourth-place tie with Glenn Anderson on the team’s all-time list.

Hyman is also red hot with eight goals and four assists in his last eight games.

Andrew Copp and Olli Maata scored for the Red Wings, who have points in four straight (3-0-1).

Panthers score late in overtime to continue streak

Sam Reinhart scored with less than a second left in overtime as the Florida Panthers rallied to extend their winning streak to nine games, 3-2 over the slumping Los Angeles Kings.

Matthew Tkachuk scored the equaliser with 2:18 remaining in regulation and Sam Bennett also tallied for the Panthers, who have the third-longest winning streak in franchise history.

Florida won 12 straight games in the 2015-16 season, then had their other two longest streaks in 2021-22 – eight consecutive wins to open that season, then 13 in a row toward the end of that season.

Reinhart has goals in five straight games, tallying 13 in his last 11 contests.

Los Angeles is winless in seven in a row (0-3-4).

Kraken win 8th straight

Joey Daccord stopped 25 shots and the Seattle Kraken defeated the Washington Capitals 4-1 for their franchise record-tying eighth consecutive win.

Tye Kartye, Adam Larsson, Justin Schultz and Alex Wennberg scored for the Kraken, who are 10-0-2 in their last 12 games. They haven’t had a regulation loss since Dec. 10.

Daccord improved to 7-0-0 in his last eight games, with an eye-popping .966 save percentage during that span.

Kartye and Larsson became the 15th and 16th players to score for Seattle during this streak.

Max Pacioretty scored his first goal of the season for Washington, which has lost seven of nine (2-5-2).

Valeri Nichushkin scored two power-play goals and Alexander Georgiev stopped 25 shots for his second shutout of the season as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the slumping Vegas Golden Knights, 3-0 on Wednesday.

Logan O’Connor also scored and Nathan MacKinnon had an assist to extend his season-opening home points streak to 23 games.

MacKinnon is the fourth player in NHL history with a season-opening home points streak of at least 23 games. The others are Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito.

MacKinnon also tied Joe Sakic (2000-01) for the longest home points streak at any stage of a season in franchise history.

Colorado improved to 8-1-1 in its last 10 games and pulled within one point of Central Division-leading Winnipeg.

The Golden Knights have dropped seven of nine games overall and six straight on the road.

Stars roll past slumping Wild

Nils Lundkvist had a goal and an assist and Esa Lindell set up three scores as the Dallas Stars completed a season sweep of the Minnesota Wild with a 7-2 rout.

Joe Pavelski, Matt Duchene, Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson, Tyler Seguin and Sam Steel also scored for the Stars, who won all three games this season against the Wild by a 19-5 score.

Matt Boldy had a goal and an assist as Minnesota dropped to 1-6-0 in its last seven games.

Jesper Wallstedt made his NHL debut in net for the Wild and stopped 27 of 34 shots.

Couturier lifts Flyers over Canadiens in shootout

Sean Couturier tallied the only goal in the shootout and the Philadelphia Flyers rallied for a 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Owen Tippett and Morgan Frost scored in regulation for the Flyers, who overcame as 2-0 deficit to cap a four-game homestand with its third victory in 10 games.

Sean Monahan and David Savard had goals and Cayden Primeau stopped 37 shots for Montreal, which has lost five of seven.

Defenseman Jamie Drysdale had an assist in his Flyers debut after he was acquired from Anaheim on Monday for top prospect Cutter Gauthier.

Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper became the third-fastest to 500 wins as Nick Perbix scored 2:02 into overtime in a 3-2 victory over the slumping Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday.

Scotty Bowman (825) and Bruce Boudreau (837) were the only coaches to reach the milestone faster than Cooper’s 839 games. Cooper is the fastest to do it with one franchise, and 29th overall to get to 500.

Tyler Motte and Brandon Hagel also scored for the Lightning, who have traded wins and losses in their past six games.

Perbix ended a 40-game drought with his OT goal and completed Tampa Bay’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the third period.

Phillip Danault and Matt Roy had goals as the Kings lost their sixth straight (0-3-3).

Tkachuk has hat trick to power streaking Panthers

Matthew Tkachuk scored three straight goals in the third period and Anthony Stolarz stopped 28 shots to propel the Florida Panthers to their eighth consecutive win, 5-1 over the St. Louis Blues.

Tkachuk extended Florida’s lead to 3-1 2:18 into the third period and scored again at 5:57 before completing his fifth career hat trick with an empty-net goal.

Sam Reinhart added his team-leading 29th goal for the Panthers, who have outscored opponents 36-15 during the eight-game streak.

Oilers edge Blackhawks for eighth straight win

Connor McDavid snapped a second-period tie and Stuart Skinner turned aside 25 shots as the Edmonton Oilers won their eighth in a row, 2-1 over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Leon Draisaitl had the other goal to give Edmonton its second eight-game winning streak under coach Kris Knoblauch. The Oilers are 16-3-0 in their last 19 games.

Jason Dickinson scored for the Blackhawks, who have lost six of seven overall and five straight to the Oilers.

Elias Petersson and Nils Hoglander each had two goals to support 39 saves from Thatcher Demko as the Vancouver Canucks rolled to a 6-3 win over the New York Rangers in a clash of division leaders on Monday. 

Petersson added assists on two of three Vancouver first-period goals as the NHL's highest scoring team put on another strong offensive display. 

Brock Boeser contributed a goal and two assists in the Pacific Division-leading Canucks' third win in four games. Vancouver has put up six goals in each of those victories.

After Vincent Trocheck scored the first of his two goals to give the Rangers a quick lead just 3:38 in, J.T. Miller, Hoglander and Boeser all beat New York goaltender Igor Shesterkin before the end of the first period to stake Vancouver to a 3-1 lead.

Artemi Panarin got the Rangers closer 8:19 into the second with his 26th goal of the season, but Petersson and Hogland scored 1:14 apart late in the period to extend the Canucks' advantage to 5-2.

Trocheck got a rising shot past Demko 3:36 into the third period, but the Canucks later killed off a New York power play before Pettersson sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with 1:31 remaining.

Shesterkin stopped just 20 of 25 shots as the Metropolitan-leading Rangers lost consecutive games for just the second time this season.

Avalanche stay hot with shootout win over Bruins

Valeri Nichushkin scored the lone goal of the shootout to give the Colorado Avalanche a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins for their fifth win in six games.

Alexandar Georgiev made 23 saves before stopping all three Boston skaters he faced in the shootout to help Colorado bounce back from Saturday's 8-4 home loss to the Florida Panthers.

Colorado got back on track despite two goals from Boston's Brad Marchand, the last of which tied the game at 3-3 in the third period.

Sam Malinski had given the Avs a 3-2 lead when he fired a shot past Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman with 2:04 left in the second period.

After Marchand and Colorado's Mikko Rantanen traded power-play goals in the first period, Logan O'Connor put the Avalanche ahead 2:23 into the second before Boston's John Beecher tied it midway through the period.

Swayman finished with 33 saves for the Bruins, who had won five of six coming in.

Stars blank Wild to keep Fleury at 551 wins

Matt Murray made 23 saves to record his first career shutout and outshine Marc-Andre Fleury as the Dallas Stars got back on track with a 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

Fleury entered the contest tied with Hall of Famer Patrick Roy for second place in NHL history with 551 wins as a goaltender, but made just 16 saves as Murray outperformed the 39-year-old in only his fourth career NHL start.

Roope Hintz and Tyler Seguin supported the rookie with a goal and an assist each as Dallas ended a season-high three-game losing streak.

The Stars scored twice while short-handed, with the first coming midway through the first period when Seguin forced a turnover and an uncovered Hintz beat Fleury on the resulting pass.

Fleury kept it a 1-0 game until Seguin's wrist shot trickled past the veteran 1:28 into the third period. Radek Faksa later added another short-handed goal before Jason Robertson scored on a power play to give Dallas a commanding 4-0 lead.

The WIld lost for the fifth time in six games and were shut out for the second time this season. 

Mark Scheifele scored two goals and the Winnipeg Jets dominated the Arizona Coyotes from start-to-finish to extend their point streak to 12 games with Sunday's 6-2 victory.

The Jets outshot the Coyotes by a 36-17 margin en route to their sixth consecutive victory. Connor Hellebuyck needed to make just 15 saves for the Western Conference leaders, who improved to 10-0-2 since Dec. 13.

Nikolaj Ehlers chipped in a goal and an assist for Winnipeg, which also got goals from Vladislav Namestnikov, Cole Perfetti and Adam Lowry.

Namestnikov recorded the lone goal of a first period in which the Jets finished with a 14-4 shot advantage. Ehlers made it a 2-0 lead early in the second before Nick Schmaltz scored off a Clayton Keller feed to get the Coyotes on the board later in the period.

Perfetti restored Winnipeg's two-goal advantage by scoring unassisted with 5:56 left in the second, and Ehlers set up Scheifele's first goal 5:11 into the third to extend the margin to 4-1.

Scheifele and Lowry each scored in the final two minutes after Arizona cut the lead to 4-2 on Dylan Guenter's unassisted goal with 7:27 remaining.

Karel Vejmelka stopped 30 of 35 shots in the Coyotes' third straight loss.

Carlson's late goal gives Capitals comeback win over struggling Kings

John Carlson's goal with 52.9 seconds remaining capped a third-period rally that lifted the Washington Capitals to a 4-3 win over the scuffling Los Angeles Kings.

Carlson and Nicolas Aube-Kubel scored in the final 11 1/2 minutes to bring the Capitals back from a 3-2 deficit and allow Washington to avoid a third straight loss on its current homestand.

Aube-Kubel added two assists and Nic Dowd had a goal and an assist to support a strong 38-save effort from Capitals goaltender Darcy Kuemper.

Kevin Fiala's second goal of the game, a power-play tally 1:01 into the third period, gave Los Angeles a 3-2 lead it held until Aube-Kubel fired a wrist shot past Kings goaltender Cam Talbot with 11:24 left to play.

Carlson later sent a shot on net that got through a screened Talbot inside the final minute for the eventual game-winner.

After a scoreless first period, Dowd put Washington ahead 4:22 into a frantic second period before the Kings answered less than three minutes later on Adrian Kempe's power-play goal.

Fiala knocked in a rebound with 6:58 left in the second to send Los Angeles in front, though the Capitals countered just 2:33 afterward on Dylan Strome's 15th goal of the season.

Talbot finished with 30 saves for Los Angeles, which has lost a season-high five straight games (0-3-2).

Blackwell lifts Blackhawks in first game without Bedard

Colin Blackwell gave the Chicago Blackhawks a needed spark with two goals and an assist that led the way in a 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames.

Blackwell capped his big day by scoring the eventual winning goal on a power play with 5:23 remaining, helping Chicago win in its first game since rookie sensation Connor Bedard fractured his jaw in Friday's loss to the New Jersey Devils.

The Blackhawks stopped an overall five-game losing streak behind Blackwell and Nikita Zaitsev, who registered a goal and an assist to back 28 saves from Petr Mrazek.

Calgary held a 2-1 lead following Andrew Mangiapane's power-play goal 3:26 into the second period, but Philipp Kurashev and Zaitsev scored 2:40 apart later in the stanza to send Chicago ahead.

After Blackwell's second goal of the day gave the Blackhawks a 4-2 advantage, Nazem Kadri got the Flames closer by recording his second goal of the game with 4:41 left to play. 

Calgary managed just two more shots on Mrazek the rest of the way, however, and was dealt a second straight loss following a three-game winning streak.

Blackwell and Kadri traded goals in the opening period as the teams entered the first intermission tied at 1-1.

Dan Vladar ended with 16 saves for the Flames.

Sam Reinhart recorded a hat trick and Aleksander Barkov had four assists to lead the visiting Florida Panthers to their season-high seventh straight victory, 8-4 over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Carter Verhaeghe had two goals and an assist and Matthew Tkachuk added a goal and two assists for the Panthers, who have scored 31 goals – including 10 on the power play – during the win streak.

Reinhart has 10 goals in the seven-game run, including three multigoal games. He ranks among the NHL leaders with 28 goals this season, three fewer than he had in 82 games in 2022-23.

Cale Makar and Valeri Nichushkin each scored one goal and set up another as Colorado had a seven-game point streak snapped.

Nathan MacKinnon had an assist to extend his home point streak to 21 games to start the season.

Streaking Oilers win behind Hyman’s hat trick

Zach Hyman notched his third hat trick of the season and the Edmonton Oilers extended their winning streak to seven games on Saturday with a 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

Stuart Skinner stopped 30 shots and Evan Bouchard had three assists for Edmonton, which has overcome a 5-12-1 start by going 15-3-0 in their last 18.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch became the first coach in NHL history to have two seven-game winning streaks in his first 25 games in the position. 

The Senators got their lone goal from Parker Kelly and dropped their third straight.

Fleury ties Roy as Wild win

Marc-Andre Fleury tied Patrick Roy on the all-time wins list with Marco Rossi’s overtime goal that gave the Minnesota Wild a 4-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Fleury made 25 saves to match Roy with his 551st win and now trails only Martin Brodeur (691) on the career list.

Matt Boldy scored two power-play goals and Marcus Johansson also tallied for the Wild, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

Columbus’ Cole Sillinger scored all three goals for his second career hat trick.

Chicago Blackhawks star rookie Connor Bedard left after a hard hit in the first period and the New Jersey Devils rallied for a 4-2 victory on Friday.

Bedard, the rookie leader with 15 goals and 33 points, was levelled by Devils defenseman Brendan Smith as he carried the puck into the offensive zone. Bedard then skated to the bench holding his face.

Chicago coach Luke Richardson had no update on Bedard after the team’s 14th straight road loss.

Simon Nemec and Alexander Holtz each had a goal and an assist and Michael McLeod snapped a tie in the third period as the Devils won their fifth in six games.

Jason Dickinson and Boris Katchouk had goals for the Blackhawks, who have been outscored 19-4 during a four-game losing streak.

Jets win fifth straight, extend point streak

Laurent Brossoit made 37 saves and Nate Schmidt and Cole Perfetti scored third-period goals as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 to run their point streak to 11 games.

Nikolaj Ehlers had the other goal to help the Jets win their season high-tying fifth straight and improve to 9-1-1 since a 2-1 loss at San Jose on Dec. 12.

Winnipeg moved atop the league standings with 54 points, one ahead of the Rangers and Avalanche.

Anaheim’s lone goal came from Mason McTavish in its fourth consecutive loss (0-3-1).

Streaking Hurricanes defeat Capitals

Brent Burns scored two of Carolina’s six unanswered goals and red-hot Andre Svechnikov had a goal and two assists in the Hurricanes’ fifth straight win, 6-2 over the Washington Capitals.

Seth Jarvis and Dmitry Orlov also scored, Vasily Ponomarev tallied in his NHL debut and Sebastian Aho had three assists for Carolina, which is 8-1-3 in its last 12 games.

Svechnikov has six straight multipoint games with seven goals and seven assists during that span.

Nic Dowd and Dylan Strome had goals as the Capitals dropped to 1-4-2 in their last seven games.

Sidney Crosby scored a tie-breaking goal on the power play to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 6-5 win over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

Crosby had a pair of assists in the first period before his goal at 11:19 in the third period snapped a 5-all tie.

It was the second straight multi-point game for the 36-year-old Crosby, who is tied for seventh in the league with 22 goals and earlier in the day was named an NHL All-Star for the 10th time.

Drew O’Connor, Ryan Graves, Jake Guentzel, Lars Eller and Jeff Carter also scored for the Penguins (19-14-4), who have now earned at least one point in seven of their last eight games, going 6-1-1 since December 18.

The Atlantic Division-leading Bruins (23-8-6) rallied from three goals down to tie the score on Brad Marchand's second goal of the game early in the third period, but ended up losing for the first time in five games.

David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie each finished with a goal and two assists, while Jeremy Swayman finished with 29 saves for Boston.

Lukas Dostal stopped a career-high 55 shots before Auston Matthews scored his league-leading 30th goal in overtime to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.

Dostal protected a 1-0 lead until John Tavares banged home a rebound on a power play with 5:43 left in regulation.

Frank Vatrano scored in the second period for the Ducks, who lost their third straight and dropped to 1-5-0 on a season-high eight-game homestand.

Toronto extended its streak of not being shut out to 181 games, a run that started in November 2021.

Hischier leads Devils over Capitals

Nico Hischier scored two goals and set up another on the eve of his 25th birthday to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 6-3 win over the Washington Capitals.

Dawson Mercer and Michael McLeod also scored twice for the Devils, who squandered a two-goal lead before recovering to win for the fourth time in five games.

Evgeny Kuznetsov had a goal and an assist for Washington to end a 10-game point drought. The Capitals dropped to 1-3-2 in their last six games.

Max Pacioretty went pointless in his Capitals debut, playing his first NHL game in nearly a year after tearing his right Achilles tendon.

Connor McDavid had a goal and four assists to reach 900 points for his career and the Edmonton Oilers won their sixth straight game, 5-2 over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.

McDavid’s milestone point came on an assist on Zach Hyman’s goal in the second period. The 900th point came in his 602nd game, making McDavid the fifth-fastest player in NHL history to reach that total, trailing only Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Mike Bossy and Peter Stastny.

McDavid had five points in a game for the 10th time. He had a career-high six points on Nov. 14, 2019 against Colorado.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two goals and an assist for the Oilers, who are 14-3-0 in their past 17 games.

Surging Jets handle Lightning

Nikolaj Ehlers and Morgan Barron scored third-period goals as the Winnipeg Jets extended their point streak to nine games with a 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Neal Pionk and Alex Iafallo also scored and Vladimir Namestnikov had three assists as the Jets won their third straight and improved to 7-0-2 in their past nine games.

Connor Hellebuyck, named the NHL’s third star of the month of December, stopped 33 shots. He is 7-0-2 with a 1.99 goals-against average in his last nine starts.

Red-hot Hurricanes roll past Rangers

Andrei Svechnikov scored a pair of goals and Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 28 shots to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 6-1 rout of the New York Rangers.

Brady Skjei had three assists against his former team and Jack Drury had a goal and an assist to help the Hurricanes win their fourth straight and improve to 7-1-3 in their last 11 games.

Svechnikov has points in five consecutive games, including six goals, while Sebastian Aho has points in his last five games with three goals and 10 assists.

Chris Kreider scored for New York, which has lost seven times this season by three or more goals.

Joey Daccord stopped 35 shots for his second career shutout as the surging Seattle Kraken registered a 3-0 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday to win the NHL’s Winter Classic.

Daccord recorded the first shutout in Winter Classic history and was supported by goals from Eeli Tolvanen, Will Borgen and Yanni Gourde as the Kraken delighted a crowd of 47,313 at T-Mobile Park, home of Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners.

Tolvanen added an assist to help Seattle to its fifth straight win. The Kraken also set a franchise record by earning a point in their ninth consecutive game (7-0-2).

Seattle jumped out to a 1–0 lead less than five minutes in when Tolvanen redirected teammate Vince Dunn’s shot past Vegas goaltender Logan Thompson.

Borgen extended the margin 2:19 into the second period with his first goal of the season, a drive off a loose puck that beat Thompson to the stick side.

Despite the Golden Knights owning a 15-6 shot advantage in the third period, the Kraken got the lone goal when Gourde forced a Vegas turnover and scored with 17:50 left to play.

Thompson finished with 24 saves for the defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights, who had their recent slump extended with a fifth loss in six games.

This was the first appearance for both teams in the Winter Classic, the NHL’s annual New Year’s Day outdoor event which was being held for the 15th time.

Warren Foegele's career-high five-point night propelled the red-hot Edmonton Oilers to their fifth straight win, a 7-2 rout of the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.

Foegele scored twice and assisted on goals from Ryan McLeod, Leon Draisaitl and Brett Kulak to help Edmonton close out a highly successful six-game road trip. After opening the trek with a loss to the New York Islanders, the Oilers outscored the opposition by a 24-10 margin during their current winning run. 

Draisaitl added two assists and Calvin Pickard made 28 saves for Edmonton, which also got goals from Evander Kane and Zach Hyman.

Kane's wraparound goal with 2:38 left in the first period staked the Oilers to a 2-1 lead, and Edmonton scored three unanswered in the second to pull away. Drasaitl had the first of those goals 1:48 into the period before Foegele struck twice within a span of about 7 1/2 minutes.

Anaheim got one back in the third on Frank Vatrano's team-leading 17th goal of the season, but Hyman answered four minutes later before Kulak capped Edmonton's seven-goal night with 4:11 remaining.

McLeod opened the scoring 4:15 in before the Ducks tied it later in the first period when Max Jones slipped a rebound past Pickard.

John Gibson finished with 32 saves in Anaheim's fourth loss in five games.

Marchment has hat trick, assist in Stars' 8-1 drubbing of Blackhawks

Mason Marchment registered his second career hat trick and added an assist as the Dallas Stars rolled to an 8-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks to sweep the teams' two-game weekend series.

Dallas needed overtime to pull out a 5-4 victory over the Blackhawks on Friday, but had far less trouble in the rematch. Goals by Craig Smith, Ryan Suter and Tyler Seguin gave the Stars a 3-0 lead after one period and the Stars struck twice more in the second.

After Sam Steel ripped a backhand past Chicago goaltender Petr Mrazek 3:43 into the period, Marchment got his first of the night on a power play with 7:10 left in the second to increase the lead to 5-0.

Philipp Kurashev scored on a power play 39 seconds into the third period for Chicago's lone goal. Roope Hintz answered for Dallas just over four minutes later with his fourth goal in two games, however, and Marchment completed the hat trick with two goals in the final six minutes.

Seguin, Matt Duchene, Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson all had two assists in Dallas' fifth win in six games, while Scott Wedgewood finished with 23 saves.

Mrazek was pulled early in the third period after allowing six goals on 31 shots, with Arvid Soderblom stopping eight of 10 chances in relief.

Nedeljkovic, Eller spark surging Penguins' win over Islanders

The Pittsburgh Penguins stayed hot as well with their fifth win in six games, a 3-1 decision over the New York Islanders behind Alex Nedeljkovic's 37 saves and two goals from Lars Eller.

Nedeljkovic stopped 14 shots in the first period as Pittsburgh took a 1-0 lead into the intermission when Eller converted a feed from Jansen Harkins just 2:18 in.

Noel Acciari's goal 2:20 into the second extended the Penguins' advantage, though the Islanders got back in it when Samuel Bolduc scored unassisted with 6:09 left to play.

Nedeljkovic kept New York at bay the rest of the way, however, before Eller completed his first two-goal game since April 2022 with an empty-netter in the final minute.

The Islanders lost to Pittsburgh for the second time in five days despite a strong outing from goaltender Ilya Sorokin, who turned back 35 of 37 shots.

Panthers beat Canadiens for 4th straight win

Eetu Luostarinen scored two power-play goals and Anthony Stolarz made 18 saves as the Florida Panthers won their fourth straight, 4-1 over the Montreal Canadiens.

Sam Bennett and Carter Verhaeghe added third-period scores for the Panthers, who have allowed only eight goals during the four-game win streak, one shy of their season high.

Cole Caufield had the lone goal for Montreal, which has lost two straight in regulation following a five-game point streak.

Ryan’s shootout goal gets surging Oilers over Kings

Derek Ryan scored the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout and the Edmonton Oilers extended their winning streak to four games, 3-2 over the Los Angeles Kings.

Connor McDavid scored one goal and set up another by Leon Draisaitl in his 600th career game and Stuart Skinner made 26 saves for the Oilers, who improved to 11-3-0 in their last 14 games.

Kevin Fiala and Adrian Kempe had goals as the Kings dropped to 7-6-4 at home.

Sam Reinhart had two goals and Carter Verhaeghe scored the game-winner with 6:23 remaining to lift the Florida Panthers to a 4-3 win over the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers on Friday.

Aleksander Barkov recorded three assists to tie a franchise all-time record in that category and help the Panthers to a third straight victory. The Florida captain now has 415 career assists, matching former teammate Jonathan Huberdeau for the most in club history.

The Rangers rallied from an early two-goal deficit to draw even at 3-3 when Mika Zibanejad scored short-handed with 7:45 left to play. The deadlock was short-lived, however, as Verhaeghe whipped a wrist shot past New York goaltender Jonathan Quick just 1:22 later to put the Panthers back in front. 

Florida's Evan Rodrigues had the lone goal of the first period, and Reinhart increased the lead to 2-0 with just over seven minutes elapsed in the second before the Rangers got goals from Artemi Panarin and Will Cuylle less than 90 seconds apart.

Reinhart sent the Panthers back ahead before the end of the second, however, by redirecting a shot from Barkov past Quick with Florida on a power play. 

Sergei Bobrovsky finished with 31 saves for Florida, while Quick stopped 28 shots in just New York's second loss in its last seven games.

Stars' Hintz completes hat trick with overtime winner

Roope Hintz finished off a hat trick by scoring with 7.9 seconds left in overtime to give the Dallas Stars a thrilling 5-4 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Dallas bounced back from blowing a two-goal third-period lead when Hintz knocked home a feed from Jason Robertson with time winding down in overtime. The hat trick was the fifth of the standout centre's career.

Robertson finished with two assists, while Jamie Benn and Joe Pavelski each had a goal and an assist as the Stars improved to 6-1-1 over their last eight games.

Tyler Johnson had two goals for Chicago, including a power-play tally with 2:36 remaining in regulation that tied the game at 4-4.

Johnson also scored the game's first goal, three minutes before teammate Cole Guttman converted a pass from Lukas Reichel midway through the first period for a 2-0 Blackhawks' lead.

Dallas then recorded the next four goals, beginning with Hintz's first of the night that came under a minute after Guttman's tally. Hintz and Pavelski both scored in the second period to put the Stars ahead before Benn extended the lead to 4-2 with just over two minutes elapsed in the third.

Jason Dickinson later brought the Blackhawks back within one by beating Dallas goaltender Scott Wedgewood with 11:02 left in the third.

Petr Mrazek had 30 saves for Chicago, which has now dropped seven of its last nine games (2-6-1). Wedgewood recorded 25 saves for the Stars.

Kraken edge Flyers in OT to extend point streak

Justin Schultz's goal with 2:25 left in overtime extended the surging Seattle Kraken's winning streak to four games with Friday's 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Schultz slid a pass from Oliver Bjorkstrand past Flyers goaltender Carter Hart in extra time shortly after Seattle secured an eighth consecutive game with at least one point (6-0-2), which ties a franchise record. 

Joey Daccord allowed a short-handed goal to Philadelphia's Travis Konecny in the first period, but kept the Flyers off the board thereafter in a 27-save effort.

Hart, who also finished with 27 saves, had a shutout going until Vince Dunn scored on a power play 5:45 into the third period to tie the game at 1-1.

Philadelphia has now lost three of its last four games but is now 6-0-3 over a nine-game point streak on the road.

Logan Thompson stopped 32 shots and the Vegas Golden Knights held on for a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday to snap a four-game losing streak.

Jack Eichel, Michael Ammadio and Williams Karlsson scored for Vegas, which tied Vancouver for first place in the Pacific Division.

Thompson bounced back after he allowed four goals on Anaheim’s first nine shots during a 5-2 loss to the Ducks on Wednesday.

Anže Kopitar had a goal and an assist for Los Angeles, which lost on the road in regulation for just the second time this season (13-2-1).

Svechnikov, Fast power Hurricanes

Andrei Svechnikov had a hat trick and Jesper Fast scored twice to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 5-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens.

Svechnikov tallied his first goal of the night 1:35 into the first period and snapped a tie with 6:09 remaining in the third. He completed his third career hat trick with an empty-net goal with 18.9 seconds to play.

Sebastian Aho had four assists and Brent Burns set up three scores for Carolina, which has points in eight of its last nine games (5-1-3).

Flyers score 3 quick goals to beat Canucks

Egor Zamula, Sean Walker and Joel Farabee scored in the second period and Samuel Ersson made 18 saves before leaving as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-1.

Ersson allowed only Teddy Blueger’s goal 25 seconds into the third period before leaving shortly after due to dehydration. Carter Hart stopped all eight shots the rest of the way.

Vancouver suffered its first loss in 10 games (7-1-2).
