West Indies spinners Jomel Warrican and Karishma Ramharack have been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for January, following standout performances in recently concluded series.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the nominees on Thursday, recognizing top performers from a packed month of action.

Warrican’s exceptional Test series in Pakistan and Ramharack’s match-winning displays in the West Indies’ ODI triumph over Bangladesh have earned them maiden nominations for the prestigious award.

The ICC Men’s Player of the Month shortlist consists of three spinners, with Pakistan’s Noman Ali and India’s Varun Chakravarthy joining Warrican in contention. Ali impressed with a historic Test hat-trick against the West Indies, while Chakravarthy’s dominant T20I performances against England saw him climb to joint-second in the ICC Men’s T20I Bowler rankings.

Warrican, however, was instrumental in the West Indies’ landmark series win in Pakistan, their first in 34 years. The left-arm spinner claimed a series-high 19 wickets, including a career-best 7-32 in the first Test and a decisive 5-27 in the second to seal a historic victory.

In the ICC Women’s Player of the Month category, Ramharack joins Australia’s Beth Mooney and India’s U19 star Gongadi Trisha. Mooney played a key role in Australia’s Ashes sweep over England, while Trisha was named Player of the Tournament in India’s triumphant U19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign.

Ramharack, making her first appearance on the shortlist, shone in the West Indies’ ODI series win against Bangladesh. The off-spinner registered her first four-wicket haul in the format before bettering it with career-best figures of 4-12 in the series decider, a performance that secured her the Player of the Series award.

Fans can cast their votes at icc-cricket.com/awards, while an independent ICC Voting Academy will also contribute to the final decision. The winners will be announced next week.
