Trinidad and Tobago’s swimming stalwart Dylan Carter is making his long-awaited return to the global pool spotlight at the 2025 Pro Swim Series in Fort Lauderdale, which gets underway on April 30 to May 3.
After months of grinding through an intense training block and visiting the Caribbean's rising sensations at the recently-concluded Carifta Aquatic Championship, Carter is back, sharpened by a revamped regimen that included explosive plyometrics and dryland finesse under the guidance of track and field coach Antonio Houston. As such, the results are expected to be sharper starts, faster transitions, and a mindset locked in on the ultimate prize.
The 29-year-old sprinter will dive in for the men’s 50m butterfly, where he is seeded 10th with a time of 52.41 seconds, and the men’s 50m freestyle, set for Saturday, May 3, where he is seeded sixth with 21.87 seconds
This meet is far more than a warm-up, as it serves as a critical launchpad toward the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, where the Caribbean speedster hopes to break onto the podium among the world’s elite.
Fresh from a strong showing in Norway earlier this year, where he held his own against Olympic champions Caeleb Dressel and Kyle Chalmers with two close fourth-place finishes, Carter now has his sights locked on piecing together the perfect race.
"Some new things and some new places,” Carter shared recently as he hinted at the work being done behind the scenes.
