The teams representing the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona Campus went undefeated on Friday’s first day of the 2025 UWI Volleyball Games set to run through to Sunday at the UWI Five Islands Campus in Antigua.

The tournament is making a return after suspension due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The UWI Female Volleyball Club secured wins over Antiguan clubs Stoneville and Royal Cruises without losing a set.

They defeated Stoneville 25-16, 25-22 before brushing aside Royal Cruises 25-20, 25-10.

Their Male counterparts defeated Da Storming Lions in two tightly contested sets (25-21, 25-20).

The UWI Mona Male and Female teams also defeated the respective UWI Five Islands teams comprehensively to complete a dominant day one performance.

The female team won 2-0 (25-11, 25-5) while the male team also won 2-0 (25-7, 25-2).

Action continues on Saturday.
