
Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Guyana and Saint Lucia all had multiple men advance to the Round of 32 in the men’s singles category at the ongoing Caribbean Regional Table Tennis Championships in Barbados.
Jamaica will have two men involved in Saturday’s round of 32 with Paulton Madden and Azizi Johnson.
Madden had an excellent time in the group stage, winning all three of his matches to advance as the winner of group 12 while Johnson had a 1-1 record to advance second from group one.
Madden will take on the Dominican Republic’s Abit Tejada for a place in the last 16 while Johnson will face the Eduardo Darley, also from the Dominican Republic.
Trinidad & Tobago will have three in the round of 32 as Yuvraaj Dookram, Derron Douglas and Aaron Wilson all made it through the group phase.
All three men had 1-1 records to make it through their respective groups. Dookram will face Puerto Rico’s Oscar Birriel in the first knockout round while Douglas and Wilson will take on Barbados’ Kevin Farley and Cuba’s Diomar Arguelle, respectively.
The hosts had three more make it through the group stage with Antonio Hamilton, Ramario Gill and Tyrese Knight.
Hamilton will take on Saint Lucia’s DeAndre Calderon while Gill will do battle with Guyana’s Jonathan Van Lange.
Knight will take on another Saint Lucian, Mani Eleuthere, in the round of 32.
Guyana’s Niran Bissu and Shemar Britton also advanced through their groups and will take on the Dominican Republic pair of Rafael Cabrera and Ramon Vila.
