Holmwood Technical High School’s Under-19 netball team added to their local dominance with some international success after winning the title at the World Schools Netball Cup held from June 26-28 at Loughborough University in England, the home of the England Roses Netball team.
The Manchester based school came out on top by just one points over England’s Solihull School to claim the top prize in the fifth year of the World School Games Netball Championship.
Holmwood, who won both the ISSA Rural Area and All Island Under-19 titles in 2024, were down by four points at one point in the fourth quarter before using a last-second goal to win 19-18.
Goal Attack Jada Ricketts was voted MVP of the final.
“It feels pretty great. We have been preparing for this so we went out there with a strategy that helped us win the game,” she said in a post-game interview.
South Africa’s Redhill School won the U-17 Championship while Solihull won the U-15 crown.
The U-13 title went to the UAE’s Dubai College.
