Trey Williams and Maggie Lyn lead their competitors by two strokes at the end of day one of the Jamaica Golf Association's National Amateur Championships at the Caymanas Golf Club in St. Catherine.
Williams posted a conservative one over par 73. The reigning national champion, Oshae Haye, was not far behind at three over par 75, while promising junior golfer Ryan Lue was a further one stroke behind on 76.
Meanwhile, Lyn scored 17 over par 89 to lead the female section of the championships ahead of Michele McCreath, who ended day one on 91. A new female champion will be crowned this year as last year's winner, Jodi Munn-Barrow, opted not to defend her crown.
Elsewhere, Radcliff Knibbs (73), Wayne Chai Chong (75), and Mike Boyd (78) are the top three competitors in the Men's Super Senior 0-12 category.
The professional golfers are also on the course. Orville Christie's two over par 74 puts him in the lead by just one stroke ahead of Jonathan Newnham, who shot 75. Sebert Walker Jr sits in third place on 77.
