VJ Edgecombe seems to have finally found his scoring touch for the Baylor Bears. The talented Bahamian freshman poured in 21 points as the Bears, now 13-6 this season, went on the road to defeat Utah by 15 points at the John M. Huntsman Center on Saturday.

He is now averaging 25.5 points in his last two outings after a career-best 30 in a win against Kansas State on January 22.

Edgecombe also had six rebounds, three steals and two blocks as the Bears recorded their second straight win.

Forward Norchad Omier also player a huge role in Saturday’s win, recording a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Robert Wright III had 14 points.

Ezra Ausar had 19 points and seven rebounds for Utah while Miro Little had 12 points and seven assists off the bench.

The Bears scored 38 points compared to 31 for the Utes in the first half and the second half was almost identical, with Baylor winning it 38-30.

Despite struggling from the three-point line throughout the game at 9-24 for only 37%, the Bears held the Utes to an even worst shooting night, restricting them to 5-23 for just 21.7%.

The Bears also had a slight edge in rebounds at 39-33 but it was the free throw line that really hurt Utah as they made just 12-20 compared to Baylor’s 17-20.

The Bears will next travel to face BYU at their Marriott Center on Tuesday.
