Bahamian freshman VJ Edgecombe contributed 14 points as the Bears produced a 19-point comeback to knock off the 16th ranked Kansas Jayhawks 81-70 in NCAA Division 1 Basketball at Baylor’s Foster Pavilion on Saturday.

The Bears (14-7, 6-4 in Big 12) were down 21-40 at halftime before a spirited second half comeback led by freshman guard Robert Wright III handed them an 11-point win over the 2022 national champions.

Wright III scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half while Norchad Omier had a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Edgecombe was efficient for his 14 points, hitting five of his 10 shot attempts.

Senior Hunter Dickinson led the Jayhawks with 20 points and five rebounds.

Baylor were dominant on the boards, outrebounding Kansas 40-27. They were equally dominant at the free throw line, hitting 25-28 for 89.3% compared to Kansas’ 12-19 for 63.2%.

Baylor will next face the 13th ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders in Texas on Tuesday.
