Chelsea have not made contact for Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara, reports Romano. Alcantara is wanted by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, while United have held talks with the Spaniard's agent. He has also emerged as a possible target for former club Barca.

Paul Pogba will stay at Manchester United and there have been talks over the prospect of a new contract, according to his agent, Mino Raiola.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined from Juventus for a then world-record fee of £89.3million (€105m), has a year to run on his deal at Old Trafford, although United have the option to extend it by 12 months.

Pogba has regularly been linked with a move away from the club, with a return to Juve or a transfer to Real Madrid his most likely destinations.

However, since recovering from ankle problems that blighted much of his 2019-20 season, Pogba has proved a key part of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans and has appeared much more content in Manchester, having helped the Red Devils secure a return to the Champions League.

With the coronavirus pandemic impacting finances at even the biggest clubs, a significant bid for Pogba has always looked unlikely this year, and it appears the World Cup winner is prepared to commit his long-term future to United.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Raiola said: "He's still at the centre of an important technical project. Even in recent years, United have never wanted to open negotiations.

"We're talking very calmly [about a renewal]. No stress."

There have been rumours Juve could look to include Federico Bernardeschi as part of a deal to bring Pogba back to Turin, while Napoli have also been linked with the winger.

Raiola thinks the 26-year-old could enjoy a new lease of life at Juve under new coach Andrea Pirlo, but he is not ruling out a departure.

"Bernardeschi knows what he's been and what he wants to do," he said. "He understands that his career isn't at the point of ending, but at the beginning.

"I believe he's a player who could easily stay at Juventus, but if there are better conditions - for him or Juve - then we will evaluate things.

"I've never shut the door in anyone's face; I've always evaluated everything. I'll do the same for Bernardeschi.

"I think Juve are still planning with him. It would be a new challenge for him, too, with a new coach and a new tactical system."

The transfer saga that is Jadon Sancho-Manchester United continues to roll on.

United, however, are reportedly not giving up.

TOP STORY – UNITED HELD UP BY PERSONAL TERMS

Cristiano Ronaldo's 31st Serie A goal of the season and Federico Bernardeschi's second-half effort delivered a ninth successive Scudetto for Juventus as they defeated Sampdoria 2-0.

Juve knew three points would clinch another title but, having won just one of their previous five games, they needed a moment of magic from their talisman in first-half stoppage time to set them on their way.

Ronaldo swept home following a well-worked Miralem Pjanic free-kick for his 10th goal since the league resumed - making him the most prolific player across Europe's top five leagues following the coronavirus-enforced break - and it was an unlikely source who wrapped up the triumph as Bernardeschi scored his first Serie A goal since September 2018.

Juve's night of celebration was only slightly spoiled by injuries to Danilo, Paulo Dybala and Matthijs de Ligt, while Ronaldo slammed a late penalty against the crossbar to miss out on equalling a club record.

Injuries, rather than chances, were the story early on as Samp's Julian Chabot and Juve's Danilo were forced off before Dybala made way too.

Danilo's replacement Bernardeschi forced Emil Audero into a save, but he then failed to hit the target with a set-piece, leading to Juve getting creative from their next dead-ball situation near goal.

Pjanic eschewed a shot, instead squaring for Ronaldo, whose first-time effort found its way into the bottom corner of the net to give Juve a half-time advantage.

Samp threatened a comeback, though, as Mehdi Leris and Lorenzo Tonelli both missed the target either side of a Gaston Ramirez free-kick that Wojciech Szczesny had to claw out.

However, Maurizio Sarri's men could breathe easier when Bernardeschi followed up Ronaldo's saved effort in the 67th minute to score a long-overdue goal.

Any slim hopes Samp had were extinguished when Morten Thorsby received a 77th-minute red card for a second caution following a lunge on Pjanic, with De Ligt then swiftly removed having seemingly sustained a knock in an earlier challenge.

Ronaldo could have added an 89th-minute exclamation point when Fabio Depaoli brought down Alex Sandro in the box, but the Portugal great's effort came back off the woodwork.

What does it mean? Attention turns to Champions League as Juve limp over the line

This Scudetto triumph should have been sealed weeks ago but Juve can finally celebrate again thanks to this victory, while Inter, Lazio and Atalanta will rue their late-season stumbles.

Juventus' focus will now be on the Champions League - and ending a 24-year wait to win that prestigious trophy - and they must overturn a 1-0 deficit in the second leg against Lyon, a task that will be harder if Dybala and De Ligt are missing.

Ronaldo continues red-hot form

Juve's form may have been patchy since the resumption, but 35-year-old Ronaldo has found another gear, stepping up when his team needed him most here.

He has scored 10 in 10 Serie A matches following lockdown, though he would have equalled Felice Borel's record Serie A haul for Juventus of 32 goals in a season had he not missed from the spot late on.

Torrid Tonelli

It was Tonelli's foul on Adrien Rabiot that resulted in the free-kick from which Juventus scored their opener.

Then, having missed a good chance to level when heading wide from a corner, he was caught in possession leading to the crucial second goal.

What's next?

With the Scudetto wrapped up, Ronaldo and others may be rested for the final Serie A fixtures against Cagliari and Roma next week before the Bianconeri resume their Champions League campaign against Lyon in 12 days' time. Sampdoria host Milan on Wednesday before rounding out the campaign at Brescia.

Ante Rebic has taken aim at Juventus stars Gonzalo Higuain and Federico Bernardeschi over their on-field conduct and hailed the qualities of "leader" and Milan team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Rossoneri overturned a two-goal deficit to defeat Juve 4-2 in Serie A earlier this month, a match in which Ibrahimovic and Rebic were each on target.

But Milan forward Rebic was less than impressed with what he perceived to be theatrics from some of Juve's line-up, while he also revealed a barb from Bianconeri goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny stoked the fires.

"There are two Rebics," he told Sportweek. "In private I'm very quiet, a little withdrawn because I don't like people talking about me.

"On the pitch there's another Ante, which breaks everyone's balls. At one point during the win against Juve, I said something to Higuain.

"I'm not a fan of players like him, who are big and strong yet stay down for three minutes whenever they're touched.

"The same goes for Bernardeschi and the same thing happened against SPAL. Ibra takes lots of beatings too but gets up immediately and without a whimper. Others cry too much.

"I say something to Higuain and Szczesny tells me: 'You're 2-0 down, don't get cocky'.

"I didn't answer him. Normally I would've replied, because another thing I don't like is people underestimating me.

"This time, however, I didn't open my mouth. I replied to Szczesny in a different way... I'm strong mentally: whoever attacks me, fires me up."

Rebic is relishing playing with veteran striker Ibrahimovic, who returned to Milan on a short-term deal in January.

It remains to be seen if Ibrahimovic will remain in Milan beyond the end of the campaign but Rebic had nothing but praise for the way the Swedish superstar fires up his team-mates.

Rebic added: "We need him. Ibra's a leader. Before the Juve game, he said to us 'I'll show the Juventus players how to play football'.

"It was his way of getting us fired up, [Asmir] Begovic and [Simon] Kjaer too. They're experienced players who know how to calm you down or spur you on."

For so long, Real Madrid have been tipped to sign Kylian Mbappe.

Zinedine Zidane has made no secret of his admiration for the Paris Saint-Germain sensation.
