Elaine Thompson cops Pan Am 100-metre gold, Ahye second in Peru

Elaine Thompson won the 100m title at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru on Wednesday to secure Jamaica’s third gold medal at the championships.

The win came mere minutes after compatriot Natoya Goule won the 800m title.

Thompson, the 2016 double Olympic champion clocked 11.18 to be an easy winner over Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle Lee Ahye who crossed the finish line in 11.27 for the silver medal.

Brazil’s Vitoria Cristina Silva Rosa was third in 11.30.

Mike Rodgers of the USA took the men’s title in 10.09s.

Brazil’s Paulo Andre Camilo De Oli won the silver medal in 10.16 while Antigua and Barbuda’s Cejhae Greene took the bronze in 10.23.
