Doug “Hollywood” Gore says fans will get to see him race his new Kia Rio at Dover April 1 and 2, but reveals that his entry into the Caribbean Motor-Racing Championships (CMRC) might have to wait until next year.

Gore launched the car in Kingston on Saturday night to much fanfare. It is anticipated that the car built specifically for racing Jamaica will add even more spice to the local racing circuit that has seen, in the last few years, the introduction of new racing machines, Radicals driven by defending driver’s champion Kyle Gregg and the wily veteran David Summberbell, the man seen as Gore’s fiercest rival.

“Definitely, April 1 and 1, that is what the car is being prepared for, the first Dover. After that now, I know that the Jamaica Race Drivers Club and JamWest are having issues, so are waiting hoping that they will sort their issues out so we can mosey on to JamWest. That is the hope anyway,” Gore told SportsMax.TV on Monday.

He said this year the focus will be completely in Jamaica, so perhaps next year he will think about the CMRC.

He revealed that the public reaction to the car has been very positive.

“The reaction has been very good, especially on social media and media have all come onboard and they want to see the car at Dover and they are really glad I didn’t get a Radical. They are glad I bought a car they could identify with and I think that it will bring a nice mix to Dover,” he said.

“You’re going to have where my car is faster in some areas and the Radicals faster in other areas. I think it will have a nice cat-and-mouse effect again, so we are looking forward to some really exciting racing.”
