Portmore forward Javon East snatched a brace as the former national champions secured a spot in this season’s Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) final following a 3-0 win over Cavalier at Spanish Town Prison Oval on Sunday.

Portmore, who had finished the regular season at the top of the table, endured much frustration against sixth-place Cavalier last week in the first leg match at Stadium East.

On Sunday, however, East ensured those frustrations did not continue as he gave the team the lead in the 6th minute.  Any hope Cavalier had of clawing their way back into the fixture were dashed early in the second half when Jeremie Lynch added to the score only two minutes after the resumption.

East returned to finish the job in the 72nd minute and left the Clarendon team the chance to claim a sixth national title after making a third straight final.

Portmore will know their opponents in the final, following Monday night’s semifinals between Arnett Gardens and Waterhouse at the Antony Spaulding Complex.  Waterhouse secured a 1-0 advantage in the first leg at Drewsland last week.
