Manchester United have agreed terms in principle over a deal for Swansea City winger Daniel James, the two clubs have announced.

The Wales international will become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first signing as manager, with United expected to pay £15million up front and a further £3m due in add-ons.

James almost joined Leeds United in January, only for the transfer to fall through after the Championship clubs failed to reach an agreement.

Interest from Old Trafford emerged after the 21-year-old turned in a series of sparkling displays in the FA Cup.

He scored a stunning solo goal against Brentford in the fifth round in February and also impressed in a breathless quarter-final defeat to Manchester City the following month.

"Daniel has successfully completed a medical at the Aon Training Complex," said a statement from Manchester United.

"Further details will be communicated once the international transfer window opens next week."

James netted five times in all during a breakthrough 2018-19 season for Swansea, as well as once for Wales in their Euro 2020 qualifying win over Slovakia.

Neymar will miss Brazil's Copa America campaign due to a ligament rupture in his right ankle in a huge blow for the host nation.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed the news after Neymar left Wednesday's 2-0 friendly win over Qatar in tears.

A tearful Neymar was carried down the tunnel with an ankle problem in the first half in Brasilia.

Neymar, who recovered from a knee injury leading into the international friendly, was substituted in the 21st minute and assisted into the locker room.

Brazil head coach Tite was hopeful Neymar had escaped serious injury ahead of the country's Copa opener against Bolivia on June 14.

However, tests revealed Neymar would not recover in time for the major South American tournament, which Brazil will host.

Neymar was carried away in tears after appearing to suffer a lower leg injury in a major scare for Brazil ahead of the Copa America.

A tearful Neymar looked in agony as he received treatment in the dugout following Brazil's opening goal against Qatar on Wednesday.

Neymar, who recovered from a knee injury leading into the international friendly, was then substituted in the 21st minute and carried down the tunnel.

Brazil will be sweating on Neymar's fitness, with the Selecao set to face Honduras on Sunday before opening the Copa America against Bolivia on June 14, followed by Group A matches against Venezuela (June 18) and Peru (June 22).

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar, 27, was braced for the toughest match of his career amid a rape allegation.

A Sao Paulo state official confirmed to Omnisport on Saturday that a charge has been brought against the PSG forward following an incident in the French capital on May 15.

Neymar vehemently denies the accusation and posted an Instagram video on Sunday, in which he claimed the allegations are an attempt to "extort" him.

He is now facing a police investigation in Brazil after publishing intimate pictures of the alleged victim within the social media video.

"I just wanna thank God, my family, my friends and all those who sent me positive messages, so that I could keep focused and calm," Neymar wrote in an Instagram post prior to the match.

"I've never felt so LOVED by you, THANK YOU. Today I have one of the toughest matches of my career, perhaps the toughest one [because of the circumstances]. 'THE JOY OF THE LORD IS OUR STRENGTH'."

Gianluigi Buffon is leaving Paris Saint-Germain after one season at Parc des Princes, the Ligue 1 champions have confirmed.

Buffon joined the club on a free transfer in July 2018, bringing his glittering 17-year spell at Juventus to an end, and he helped PSG win the Ligue 1 title at a canter.

The 41-year-old former Italy international started 17 of PSG's 38 league matches, with Alphonse Areola more frequently the preferred option of head coach Thomas Tuchel.

Buffon indicated that he would return to Italy after leaving the French capital, with player and club jointly deciding not to renew his deal.

He told the club's official website: "I leave happy to have enjoyed this experience which has undoubtedly helped me to grow.

"Today my adventure outside Italy comes to an end. I would like to thank the chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the whole club and my team-mates.

"I wish you all the best, convinced that together you will write the pages of a wonderful story.

"Ernest Hemingway wrote that there are only two places in the world where people can live happily: at home and in Paris. Today onwards, this will also apply to me: Paris, in some way, will always remain my home... Allez Paris!"

Buffon stopped short of announcing his destination, but previously said he was considering a one-year contract extension that would have seen him enter his 25th season as a professional.

It is unclear whether he will continue as a player at another club or choose to retire.

Al-Khelaifi said Buffon would be welcomed back in 2020 when the club celebrates its 50th anniversary.

"I will never forget the pride that everyone at Paris Saint-Germain, both the club and the fans, felt when they saw Gianluigi Buffon wearing our jersey," said Al-Khelaifi.

"For the first time in his fabulous career, Gianluigi had made the brave choice to leave Italy, struck by our ambitious and modern project.

"During his time at PSG he brought his phenomenal experience and his sense of professionalism not only to his team-mates but also to all areas of the club.

"We will be honoured to welcome him again next year, along with other former players, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our club."

The news of Buffon's exit is likely to increase speculation surrounding PSG's rumoured interest in David de Gea.

The Spain international has been linked with a possible move to the French capital either this year or on a free transfer in 2020 if he does not extend his Manchester United contract.

Liverpool have confirmed Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of June.

Sturridge joined the Champions League winners from Premier League rivals Chelsea in January 2013 and scored 67 goals in 160 appearances across all competitions.

Moreno, meanwhile, was signed from Sevilla in August 2014 and made 141 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals.

Both players struggled for game time during the 2018-19 season, with Sturridge making just eight starts in all competitions and Moreno limited to four.

Liverpool's formidable frontline of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane has severely restricted Sturridge's opportunities over the past two seasons but boss Jurgen Klopp says his influence in the dressing room has been vital to the Reds' success.

"Like many players in my squad, Daniel has had to be patient and contribute when asked during games, but even this season he has played a vital role," he told the club's official website.

"What maybe is missed on the outside of the club by many is what a great leader Daniel is in our dressing room.

"He is smart, confident and not afraid to speak up when he thinks there is something that needs adapting to help the team. He has been great with many of the younger players also, so he has been so important to our progression here.

"Daniel has earned the right to be considered a modern-day Liverpool great. He came to the club while we were trying to rebuild and re-establish ourselves. Some of the goals he has scored for Liverpool were so, so, so important.

"He is one of the best finishers I have ever seen in my life. He scores goals you think could and should not be possible."

Klopp also had praise for Moreno, a player he believes will force his way back into the Spain squad in the near future.

"I know this season, and the end of the last, maybe the minutes on the pitch he would have wanted and deserved were not there, but his contribution did not diminish.

"How he was in training kept the entire group on their toes. Alberto is world-class, and I know he will be back in the Spain national team in the not-too distant future."

Real Madrid have announced the signing of Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported fee of €60million.

Jovic became one of Europe's most in-demand players after scoring 17 Bundesliga goals and a further 10 in Eintracht's run to the semi-finals of the Europa League in 2018-19.

Barcelona were said to be interested in signing Jovic and reportedly scouted the Serbia striker as they hunt for a long-term successor to Luis Suarez.

But it is LaLiga rivals Madrid who have sealed a deal for Jovic, who has signed a five-year contract with Los Blancos as they look to rebuild under Zinedine Zidane.

Jovic becomes the second player to join Madrid since Zidane's return, with a €50million move for Porto defender Eder Militao concluded in March.

Eintracht have made a massive profit on the 21-year-old as they only trigged a purchase option in his loan deal from Benfica for a reported €6m in April.

Jovic is expected to be the first of a number of high-profile arrivals during the off-season as Madrid look to bounce back from a torrid campaign.

Los Blancos – who have been linked with moves for Premier League pair Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba – finished third in LaLiga, 19 points behind champions Barcelona, who also knocked them out of the Copa del Rey at the semi-final stage.

They did not enjoy any better fortune in the Champions League either, with Ajax dumping them out in the last 16.

Jovic is likely to significantly enhance their goal threat next season and Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic admits he will be missed in Germany.

"Luka Jovic is a big loss for us," he told the club's official website.

"His explosiveness and scoring skills have spread throughout Europe and we've benefited from his goals over the past two years.

"However, for us it was clear that there is a financial threshold. For Eintracht Frankfurt this is a good and important transfer.

"We wish Luka only the best for his future. He has the best qualifications for a great career and we are proud that we were able to support him along the way."

South Africa paceman Dale Steyn has been ruled out of the remainder of the Cricket World Cup due to a shoulder injury.

The luckless Steyn was a doubt for the tournament in England and Wales after suffering a recurrence of an issue with his right shoulder.

Steyn played no part in the World Cup defeats to England and Bangladesh, but the Proteas were hoping the 35-year-old would be fit to help them recover from a poor start to the tournament.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Tuesday revealed Steyn will play no part in the competition after sustaining a second shoulder issue, which has not responded to treatment.

Left-arm Beuran Hendricks, who has made only two ODI appearances, will replace Steyn in the squad ahead of Wednesday's clash with India at the Rose Bowl, subject to approval.

Julen Lopetegui has taken his first job since his ill-fated spell at Real Madrid after being appointed Sevilla's new head coach.

Lopetegui replaces Joaquin Caparros, who guided Sevilla to a sixth-placed finish in LaLiga following the sacking of Pablo Machin in March.

Madrid dismissed Lopetegui in October 2018 after just 10 league matches, with Los Blancos languishing in ninth place in the table.

Sevilla will hope Lopetegui can be as successful as he was when head coach of Spain, who he led to qualification for the 2018 World Cup without losing a game.

The 52-year-old's first coaching role at club level came with Rayo Vallecano, where he was sacked after a poor start to the 2003-04 season and thereafter he took charge of Real Madrid Castilla.

After enjoying success as coach of Spain's youth teams at various levels, Lopetegui was appointed as head coach of Porto in May 2014, but failed to win any silverware during a two-year spell at the club.

Vicente del Bosque's retirement led to Lopetegui's appointment as the manager of Spain, but his successful two-year tenure came to an acrimonious end.

Real Madrid announced he would join them after the 2018 World Cup, leading the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to dismiss him before the tournament in Russia began.

Andy Ruiz Jr defied the odds to sensationally upstage Anthony Joshua and dethrone the unified world heavyweight champion via a seventh-round TKO.

Joshua was expected to make light work of Ruiz Jr, who replaced Jarrell Miller for the Madison Square Garden showdown after he failed a drugs test, in his United States debut on Saturday.

However, Joshua lost his WBA, IBF and WBO belts after the referee dramatically stopped the fight in the seventh round in New York.

Jose Antonio Reyes has died in a traffic accident at the age of 35, former club Sevilla have confirmed.

Reyes most recently played for Extremadura in Spain's second tier, representing them nine times in the second half of this season.

A former Spain international, Reyes came through Sevilla's academy having grown up in the town of Utrera, a few miles east of Andalusia's capital.

He broke into Sevilla's first-team as a teenager before earning himself a big-money move to Arsenal in 2004, staying there for three years.

A mercurial, talented winger, Reyes went on to feature for Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Benfica, before returning to his boyhood club in 2011 for a five-year spell.

Reyes remains the youngest player to ever represent Sevilla in LaLiga, having made his debut at the age of 16 years, four months and 29 days in January 2000.

Although he never won a trophy with Sevilla during his first spell, he went on to play a key role in their three successive Europa League triumphs between 2014 and 2016, before departing for Espanyol.
