Bayer Leverkusen's Leon Bailey. Bayer Leverkusen's Leon Bailey.

Bayer Leverkusen winger has been predictably included in the Bundesliga team of the season compiled by noted statistical sports website Whoscored.com.

The 20-year-old Jamaican player has earned a spot on the left flank in a team dominated by the league champions Bayern Munich.  Bailey, who got an overall rating of 7.3, scored nine and registered six assists for Leverkusen.  The player also had two key passes and 1.9 successful dribbles per game to help cap off a remarkable season.

Joining Bailey in the team of the season were James Rodriguez (Bayern Munich) Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), Serge Gnabry (Hoffenheim),  Arturo Vidal (Bayern Munich), Daniel Caligiuri (Schalke),  Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich),   Philipp Max (Augsburg),   Naldo (Schalke),  Salif Sane (Hannover 98) and Koen Casteels (Wolfsburg).  Rodriquez was named the player of the season.

Bailey’s team was, however, not able to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League. Despite beating Hannover 3-2 in their last league game of the season, the result was only good enough for fifth place.  Leverkusen finished on an identical 55 points, the same as Dortmund and Hoffenheim but ended behind both teams on goal difference.  The team was just three goals behind Dortmund and four off Hoffenheim.
