Ackera Nugent, Akeem Cargill win silver and bronze at Pan Am U20s

Ackera Nugent and Akeem Cargill won Jamaica’s first medals on day one of the 2019 Pan American U20 Championships in Costa Rica on Friday.

Nugent, the U18 world record holder, clocked 13.37s to win the silver medal in the race won by Jasmine Jones of the United States in 13.20s.

Micaela Rosa De Mello of Brazil copped the bronze medal in 13.41, just edging out Jamaica’s Crystal Morrison who crossed in 13.44.

Meanwhile, Cargill clocked 13.56s for third in the men’s race won by the USA’s Eric Edwards Jr in 13.11. His compatriot Tai Brown won the silver in 13.36 seconds.
