Jamaica’s Natalliah Whyte and Jonielle Smith finished third and fourth at the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Championships 60-metre final at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas on Saturday.

The two, running for Auburn University, finished behind the Louisiana State University (LSU) duo of Aleia Hobbs and Mikiah Brisco.

Hobbs won the event in 7.07 seconds, ahead of Brisco, 7.11, with Whyte a smidge off the pace in 7.12.

Hobbs’ time was equal to the collegiate record set by Oregon’s Hannah Cunliffe earlier this year, but was also a championship record, bettering the seven-year-old mark set by Lakya Brookins of South Carolina.

Smith was further back in 7.19 seconds.

The two were better on the day that San Diego State’s Ashley Henderson, 7.20 seconds, Georgia’s Kate Hall, 7.24, while the LSU pair of Kortnei Johnson, 7.26, and Cassondra Hall, 7.32, rounded out the field.
