The Jamaica Premier League’ Mount Pleasant Football Academy has announced that Head Coach Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis and his technical have left the club with Technical Director Walter Downes taking over the team with immediate effect.
Davis had been at the helm since September 2019 following the dismissal of Donovan Duckie. Duckie, now the head coach at Vere United, was sacked following Mount Pleasant’s 2-1 loss to Harbour View in their season-opener.
However, with Mount Pleasant currently seventh in the league with 4 points from their three games to date, the club announced the departure of Davis and his staff.
“Mount Pleasant Football Academy takes this opportunity to thank Coach Paul Davis and his staff for the leadership of our senior team’s technical program over the past four seasons. As a club we are forever grateful to him and his team for their service and wish them well in all future endeavours,” the club said in its statement.
“The Club remains strong and resolute in attaining its sporting and community development goals as we move forward into what will be a new and exciting chapter and pivot towards a new era of growth.
“The successful introduction of six students from the Academy into the senior program, the development of our financial model and the further commercialization and growth of our brand are all actions we are proud of.”
The news came mere hours after Molynes United revealed that Calvert Fitzgerald had stepped down as head coach but would remain as the club’s technical director.
