The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) is mourning the tragic loss of Zwade Alleyne, a 17-year-old footballer and student at Arima North Secondary, who died on May 15 after being struck by a stray bullet five days earlier near his Maloney home.

The TTFA extended heartfelt condolences to Alleyne’s family, friends, teammates, and school community, describing his death as a devastating blow to the nation's youth and sporting fraternity.

"It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that the TT Football Association extends our deepest condolences. Zwade, a promising 17-year-old, tragically lost his life today at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. His passing follows a senseless act of violence that has left us all grieving, outraged, and searching for answers," the TTFA said in a release on Thursday.

TTFA president Kieron Edwards, who is away in Paraguay for the FIFA Congress, grieved the untimely death of a young man filled with promise.

"Zwade’s life was filled with potential, on and off the field. He was a young man full of dreams, passion, and purpose. His untimely death is a devastating blow not just to his loved ones, but to the wider sporting and national community," Edwards said.

The TTFA boss called for reflection and action amid the heartbreak, urging the country to work towards a safer and more compassionate society.

"We mourn the loss of a young soul taken far too soon… May Zwade’s memory forever inspire us to work toward a safer, more compassionate society where no child’s life is cut short by violence," he stated.
