North Leeward Predators emphatically sealed the SVG Premier League title on Sunday night with a commanding 5-1 victory over Sion Hill Football Club, ending years of frustration with a performance befitting champions.
A first-half brace from Diel Reon Zianni Spring, along with goals from Koby Mingot, Gideon Justin Richards, and Keshorn Durham, saw the Predators dominate the contest and close out the season in style. Bailey Jaheim scored the lone goal for Sion Hill in the 23rd minute to momentarily equalise at 1-1, but the Predators pulled away decisively to secure the title.
The win took North Leeward Predators to 41 points, four clear of Hope International, who finished second on 37 points. Layou Football Club secured third with 32 points, while Jebelle Football Club placed fourth on 25 points, edging out BESCO Pastures United who ended fifth on 23 points.
Head Coach John Jr Williams
Speaking with Sportsmax.TV, head coach John Jr. Williams reflected on the significance of the moment.
“When we got promoted, we finished second three years in a row. This year, we said we had to break that cycle. Second place couldn’t be our story anymore,” Williams said. “We told ourselves if we lost, it would be on us. But we knew this year was ours to win.”
Trailing in the standings with three games to go, North Leeward remained composed while title rivals Hope International faltered late in the campaign.
“Hope had one bad 45 minutes, and that opened the door. We never looked back,” he added.
Williams praised the continuity of his squad and the leadership of a core group of players, many of whom have been with the club through its rise. Several also feature in the SVG senior national team, including Spring, Mingot, Richards, Amaro Charles, Kirtney Franklin, Keshorn Durham, and goalkeeper Samir Bristol.
“We haven’t changed the squad much in four seasons, and that continuity helped. We always believed. This is something we’ve worked so hard to achieve.”
The final whistle on Sunday signalled not just the end of a season, but the crowning of a team that had long threatened to become champions. North Leeward Predators are no longer runners-up—they are the 2025 SVG Premier League kings.
