
Mount Pleasant Football Academy’s record winning streak came to an end Sunday as they went down 2-1 to Harbour View FC in the Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League (JPL) at the Harbour View Stadium. Prior to the contest, the St Ann-based club registered 12 straight wins, breaking the previous record of 10 set by Arnett Gardens.
Harbour View’s goals came from Rohane Brown in the eighth minute and Oquassa Chong one minute before halftime while Daniel Green got Mount Pleasant’s consolation goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time.
The back-to-back JPL finalists remain top of the table with 52 points while Harbour View jump outside the relegation zone to 12th with 19 points.
In another surprise result on Sunday, an 82nd minute strike from Dean-Andre Thomas and 86th minute goal from Dwight Merrick gave Dunbeholden a 2-0 win over Montego Bay United at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.
The win moves Dunbeholden up to 10th in the table with 22 points while Montego Bay United remain second on 44 points.
Racing United moved a bit closer to the top six with a 2-1 win over Chapelton Maroons at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.
After a goalless first half, substitute Roshane Myrie gave Racing the lead in the 57th minute before Daniel Watson equalized for the Maroons two minutes later.
Nickyle Ellis scored the winner for Racing nine minutes from full time.
At Drewsland Stadium, Waterhouse and Molynes United played out a 1-1 draw. Jason Wright gave Molynes the lead in the 82nd minute before Atapharoy Bygrave equalized in stoppage time to secure a point.
Waterhouse are still sixth with 34 points, now level on points with defending champions Cavalier, who play Vere United on Monday, while Molynes United are ninth with 23 points.
Portmore United defeated Humble Lion 2-1 in the day’s final game at Ferdie Neita Park.
Cleo Clarke gave Humble Lion the lead in the 36th minute before late goals from Shaquwell Henry (77’) and Orlando Russell (89’) secure the three points for the hosts.
Portmore United remain fourth in the standings on 38 points, four behind third-place Arnett Gardens, while Humble Lion’s fourth straight loss means they remain at the bottom of the table on 14 points.
Arnett Gardens will take on Tivoli Gardens in the other Monday fixture.
