The Grenada Football Association (GFA) hosted its highly anticipated Commercialization symposium on Saturday, June 28 drawing representatives from 36 clubs across Grenada, Petit Martinique and Curacao.
The symposium forms part of the GFA’s strategic efforts to modernize football administration and equip its affiliates with practical tools to build sustainable, revenue-generating models.
One of the key highlights of the morning session was a presentation by Markus Bartosch, a seasoned marketing consultant who has played a role in securing sponsorships for the German national team. His insights into global best practices helped frame the discussion around how even small clubs can apply professional standards to attract commercial interest.
With over 20 years of experience in sports marketing, Tanya Lee Perkins, Sponsorship Ambassador for the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) and Head of Leep Marketing, shared strategies on growing revenues through corporate sponsorships, drawing from her extensive work in securing funding across sports broadcasting, track and field, motorsports, football, and her ongoing sponsorship role with the Reggae Boyz’ Road to 2026 campaign.
"There is untapped value in every club; in the stories they tell, the communities and players they serve, and the passion they generate,” said Tanya Lee Perkins. “Sponsorship isn't just for the big leagues. It’s about understanding your assets, packaging them smartly, and creating a compelling reason for brands to sponsor.”
GFA President Marlon Glean praised the initiative and encouraged clubs to see football not just as sport, but as a business opportunity.
“Sport is a billion-dollar global industry,” said President Glean. “That potential is not out of our reach. With the right tools and mindset, our clubs can evolve into commercially successful organizations.”
The GFA Commercialization Symposium marked a major step forward in reshaping how local clubs view their potential; not just on the pitch, but at the negotiating table.
