Teen sensations Tyrese Hall and Jinairo Johnson have been included in Steve McClaren’s provisional 60-man Reggae Boyz squad for this summer’s Concacaf Gold Cup, as the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) begins its build-up toward the regional showpiece.

Hall, a 19-year-old talent from Tottenham Hotspur, and Johnson, an 18-year-old standout at Ajax, headline a wave of exciting young prospects vying for spots in Jamaica’s final 26-man roster. The inclusion of the two rising stars is seen as a strategic move to invest in the future of the national programme while keeping one eye on present ambitions.

As per Concacaf regulations, all participating teams must submit a preliminary list of up to 60 players, from which the final squad for the June 14–July 7 tournament will be selected. The final squad submission deadline is June 4.

The Reggae Boyz have been drawn into Group C, where they will face Panama, Guatemala, and Guadeloupe.

While many familiar faces are present in McClaren’s extended list, several new overseas-based players have also been drafted into the national setup — a total of seven newcomers, including six from the English football system and one from the Dutch Eredivisie.

Among the most experienced of the new faces is Lewis Baker, a 30-year-old midfielder currently playing for Stoke City in the EFL Championship. Once a highly regarded youth product at Chelsea and a former England youth international, Baker brings a wealth of professional experience to the midfield pool.

Also earning a call-up is Demetri Mitchell, a 28-year-old midfielder who came through the Manchester United Academy. Mitchell, now at Exeter City, has endured an injury-hit season but is expected to be available in time for the tournament following recent knee surgery.

Youth and potential, however, form the backbone of the preliminary squad’s newest additions.

Malik Mothersille, a former Chelsea Academy striker now flourishing at Peterborough United, has earned selection on the back of a standout campaign — notching 16 goals and 10 assists this season. Likewise, Rumarn Burrell of Burton Albion (11 goals, 2 assists) and Tyreece Campbell of Charlton Athletic (nine goals) have been rewarded for their attacking form in England’s League One.

Campbell, a teammate of Jamaican midfielders Karoy Anderson and Kaheim Dixon, is expected to feature in Charlton’s upcoming promotion play-off final to further boost his case for a Gold Cup debut.

But it is the inclusion of Hall and Johnson, both highly-rated prospects in two of Europe’s most elite academies, that has sparked particular excitement.

Hall, known for his technical ability and composure in midfield, is on the verge of a senior breakthrough at Tottenham, while Johnson has been developing steadily at Ajax and is regarded as one of the club’s brightest young wingers.

Meanwhile, West Ham United's striker Michail Antonio, who continues his recovery from injuries sustained during a car accident, has also been listed among the likes of Bobby Reid, Andre Blake and others.
