Jamaican international Damion Lowe has landed a major off-the-pitch spotlight, appearing on the cover of Style Speaks, a Saudi Arabian digital magazine, in a feature published Friday that explores his family legacy, professional journey, and role as a symbol of hope for youth back home.
Lowe, who currently plays as a defender for Al-Okhdood in the Saudi Pro League, is completing his first season in Saudi Arabia, with just three matches remaining. The former Philadelphia Union and Inter Miami centre back made the move from Major League Soccer in 2024 and has steadily carved out a presence in one of the region’s most competitive leagues.
But this feature in Style Speaks turns the focus from football to the forces that shaped him — from his famous father, former Reggae Boyz captain Onandi Lowe, to his late grandfather, who helped launch his journey.
“My grandfather bought me a first-class flight ticket to America. Two months later, he passed,” Lowe shared in the interview. “He never got to see me play professionally, but he sent me on my way.”

The piece reflects on Lowe’s upbringing in Kingston, Jamaica, and the weight of carrying a name that came with expectations long before he made his own mark.
“Son of a Jamaican icon. Grandson of the man who held the family together. His story started in Kingston but life moved quickly. Across borders, cultures, and expectations,” the feature read.
Since making his debut for the Jamaican national team in 2016, Lowe has become a consistent figure in the Reggae Boyz backline. The Style Speaks article notes that he has played professionally across four continents, adapting to systems and cultures that didn’t always make space for him.
“I wasn’t supposed to be here. So I made sure I stayed. My journey’s for every kid in Kingston who feels like there’s no way out. To show that you can be the one they point to when they say it’s possible,” Lowe revealed to Style Speaks.
The feature highlights not just Lowe’s resilience through injuries and transitions, but also his continued commitment to being a visible symbol for young athletes in Jamaica. The story is titled with a sentiment that captures the essence of Lowe’s journey:
“The game chose him. And he chose it back.” (Style Speaks)
With Lowe’s profile rising in both football and fashion circles, this moment on the cover of a major Gulf-region lifestyle publication marks another milestone in a career built on purpose — and perseverance.
