Corinaldi Primary School were crowned Cornwall champions of the Scotiabank Mixed Under-11, Football Championships after a resounding 7-2 victory over John Rollins Success Primary in Sunday’s final at Wespow Park in Montego Bay, St James.

The emphatic win saw Corinaldi become the second regional champion of this year’s tournament, with standout player Johanna Robinson—named Best Female of the Tournament—delivering a dominant performance that included two goals in the final. Her leadership and composure inspired a Corinaldi side that overwhelmed a shell-shocked John Rollins outfit early and never looked back.

The victory capped off a thrilling weekend of football action that followed an educational day on Friday when all participating teams were engaged at the Montego Bay Cricket Club in financial literacy activities. The students were introduced to money management and investment principles through a fun and interactive game called League of Life, reinforcing Scotiabank’s commitment to youth development both on and off the field.

Saturday's group stage action saw 15 schools on display, with John Rollins, Fairfield International Academy (FIA), and Irwin Primary all finishing with perfect 4-0 records. Corinaldi, who ended with three wins and one loss, were among the most impressive teams, showing attacking flair and resilience throughout the day.

John Rollins secured wins over Chetwood (3-2), Corinaldi (2-1), William Elite (5-0), and Granville Primary of Trelawny (5-1). FIA proved to be a goal-scoring machine, thrashing Hosanna Prep 6-0, Adelphi 6-2, Tower Hill 7-2, and Maldon 4-0. Irwin were similarly dominant, defeating Catherine Hall 5-2, Rose Hall 6-0, Johns Hall 6-2, and Granville (Montego Bay) 3-0.

Corinaldi started with a 6-0 win over William Elite, stumbled 2-1 against John Rollins, but bounced back with a 5-3 win over Chetwood and a 6-3 result against Granville (Trelawny) to book their place in the knockout stage.

Eight schools advanced to Sunday’s quarterfinals: John Rollins, FIA, Irwin, Corinaldi, Chetwood, Catherine Hall, Granville (Mobay), and Hosanna.

The quarterfinals saw more fireworks as John Rollins breezed past Chetwood 5-1, FIA dispatched Catherine Hall 4-1, Irwin crushed Hosanna 9-0, and Corinaldi outclassed Granville (Mobay) 4-1.

In the highly anticipated semifinals, John Rollins edged FIA 4-3 in a thriller despite losing their captain Nemar Edwards early in the second half, while Corinaldi edged Irwin Primary 3-2 in another nail-biter.

However, the final proved a different story. Corinaldi, led by the brilliant Robinson, raced to an early lead and dominated the match. John Rollins, who had looked so assured earlier in the competition, had no answer to the relentless pace and clinical finishing of the eventual champions.

The Scotiabank U-11 Championships, hosted in partnership with the Jamaica Football Federation, continues to provide a vital platform for young footballers to hone their skills in a structured, developmental environment—while also promoting education, sportsmanship, and community engagement.

Corinaldi’s triumph now places them among the elite as they prepare for the national finals, where they’ll look to continue their march toward island-wide glory.
