Mathias Normann's handball handed Chelsea a spot-kick and, though Krul initially saved Mount's effort, the goalkeeper had come off his line, and Norwich's goalkeeper was unable to keep out the second attempt.
There was time for one more, Ruben Loftus-Cheek beating the offside trap and cutting back for Mount to slot in his third.
Salford secure first home win to see off Newport
Salford won at home for the first time this season and ended a run of six straight defeats with a 2-1 victory against Newport.
Matthew Lund’s opener was cancelled out by Bryn Morris’s strike but Declan Drysdale’s own goal on the stroke of half-time restored Salford’s lead.
The hosts went in front after 25 minutes thanks to Lund’s glancing header from Declan John’s corner.
It was nearly 2-0 a minute later when Stevie Mallan hit one from range and struck the outside of a post.
Salford’s lead proved to be short-lived as Morris steered home an equaliser after James Waite teed him up.

The Danish wing-back struck after five minutes to put the Imps in front after Ted Bishop’s pass.
His second arrived in the 21st minute after Aidan Keena lost possession for Cheltenham, allowing Reeco Hackett to supply Sorensen, who beat Luke Southwood with another low finish.
Hackett was close to adding a third two minutes later, curling a shot just past the post with Southwood at full stretch.
Hakeeb Adelakun saw a shot blocked in the box by Lewis Freestone as Lincoln dominated proceedings at Sincil Bank.
Adelakun had the ball in the net in the 66th minute, but the offside flag was raised and it was ruled out.

Partick Thistle bounced back from their 3-0 home defeat to Arbroath by beating Scottish Championship rivals Dunfermline by the same score.
Scott Robinson opened the scoring after 21 minutes, collecting a pass inside the area and finishing well.
The home side doubled their lead four minutes into the second half as Dunfermline goalkeeper Harrison Sharp could not collect a shot and Brian Graham was alert to tap home.
Kerr McInroy made the points safe with a headed third on the hour mark.
