Reggae Boyz striker Shamar Nicholson has swapped the Russian Premier League for Mexico’s Liga MX after a €1.60 million million euro move from Spartak Moscow to Club Tijuana in a deal that got done on Sunday, February 2.

Nicholson, who had a contract with Spartak Moscow until June 2026, agreed to terminate it a year early so he could go play for the Mexican outfit.

The 27-year-old started his career at Boys’ Town (2014-2017) before spells at Domzale in Slovenia (2017-2019), Charleroi in Belgium (2019-2021) and Spartak Moscow (2022-2025).

He also had a loan spell at French Ligue 1 club Clermont Foot during his time in Russia.

He has recorded three goals in nine appearances in this season’s Russian Premier League.

Nicholson has 19 goals in 56 appearances for the Reggae Boyz since his debut back in 2017.
