The Azul Cayon Rockets have taken sole possession of the NBGC Premier League lead on goal difference following a dominant 3-0 victory over Jones Group Sandy Point FC on Saturday, March 15, at Warner Park. The result keeps Cayon level on nine points with SOL IAS Conaree FC but with a superior plus-8 goal difference compared to Conaree’s plus-7.

The Rockets wasted no time asserting their dominance, with an own goal by Sandy Point’s Ahmalie Dyer putting them ahead in just the 3rd minute. A Mervin Lewis penalty in the 27th minute doubled the advantage before Raheem Davis sealed the win in the 59th minute. Notably, Cayon has yet to concede a goal in four matches, further solidifying their defensive strength. Assistant Coach Valentine Anthony credited the team’s discipline and structured approach. “For us to keep going like this, it all depends on the training, how we train and manage our players. Knowing when to rest and when to play them is key,” he explained.

Sandy Point’s Assistant Coach Lydia Liburd acknowledged the team’s struggles but remained optimistic about their progress. “The game plan was not executed properly, which cost us the first two goals. We adjusted in the second half and performed better, so we’ll continue to work on that,” she noted.

Elsewhere in the league, SL Horsfords St. Pauls United secured a 3-1 victory over Tropical Blossom Hot Spring Bath United in a match that saw a flurry of first-half action. St. Pauls responded swiftly to an early goal from Rocco Browne in the 36th minute, with Veto Morgan equalizing in the 38th minute before Keithroy Freeman added a second goal a minute later. Freeman later completed his brace in the 55th minute, ensuring St. Pauls’ dominance. The game also saw Bath’s Jalden Myers receive a red card in the 51st minute, further complicating their chances of a comeback.

In a tightly contested match, MFCR United Old Road Jets fell to SOL Island Auto Conaree 1-0 after a late penalty by Javern Matthew in the 79th minute secured the win for Conaree. With the victory, Conaree remains tied on points with Cayon but trails slightly in goal difference.

Rams Village Superstars delivered a statement performance with a 4-0 rout of Elco Ltd Security Forces, led by an outstanding hat-trick from Kimaree Roger, who found the net in the 15th, 62nd, and 70th minutes. G’Vaune Amory also got on the scoresheet in the 67th minute, as Village Superstars overwhelmed their opponents with a dominant attacking display.

Meanwhile, Development Bank St. Peters cruised to a commanding 5-0 victory over Mantab, powered by a hat-trick from Shevene Boston, who struck in the 7th, 67th, and 70th minutes. Jausean Jeffers and Kirkland Harris added late goals in stoppage time, rounding off an emphatic performance from St. Peters.

With the NBGC Premier League heating up, teams are eager to solidify their standings as the battle for supremacy continues. Fans can look forward to more thrilling action in the upcoming fixtures as teams push to stay in contention at the top of the table.
