Darren Bravo’s Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) delivered a crushing performance against Merry Boys in the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) National League Premiership I competition on Sunday, securing victory by an innings and 141 runs at the Queen’s Park Oval.

Resuming on 35 for five in reply to QPCC’s imposing 355-5 declared, Merry Boys struggled against a disciplined bowling attack, folding for just 106. Clydell Gorin’s knock of 37 was the only notable resistance, as Abdur Rahman Juman (3-9) and Namir Suepaul (3-11) ripped through the batting lineup.

Forced to follow on, Merry Boys faltered once more, with Teshawn Alleyne’s 35 offering brief defiance before Philton Williams dismantled the innings with a sensational seven-wicket haul, finishing with figures of 7-26. Juman contributed again with 2-31, sealing QPCC’s dominant victory.

Defending champions Central Sports began their title defence emphatically, dismantling newly promoted Prisons by an innings and 16 runs at Felicity.

Having secured first-innings points on Saturday with a total of 287 in response to Prisons’ paltry 66 all out, Central Sports pressed home their advantage. Prisons resumed on 1-1, still trailing by 220 runs, and despite improved contributions from Bryan Boodram (54) and Zachurrie Rhagoonath (32), they remained outmatched.

Spinner Mikkel Govia continued his excellent form, taking 3-67 to add to his first-innings haul of 4-33. Pacer Marlon Richards also impressed, claiming 2-32 to finish with four wickets in the match, ensuring Central Sports wrapped up the victory convincingly.

At the National Cricket Centre in Couva, Yorkshire avoided defeat against Bess Motors Marchin Patriots thanks to rain intervention.

Marchin Patriots had taken control with a massive first-innings total of 401-4, powered by an outstanding unbeaten 207 from Evin Lewis and 85 from Giovonte Depeiza. Yorkshire responded with 248, led by Trevon James’ 90 and Quincy Babel’s 67, but bowlers Rivaldo Ramlogan (4-42) and Kashtri Singh (4-52) kept them in check.

Following on, Yorkshire found themselves in dire straits at 194-8, but a crucial 68 from Mario Belcon and an unbeaten 61 from Brian Christmas helped them stay afloat. Rain arrived with 45 minutes left in the match, denying Marchin Patriots the time needed to complete the win. Ramlogan was the standout bowler with seven wickets across both innings.
