Jason Holder represented the Barbados Royals in 104 games across 10 editions of the Caribbean Premier League and, starting in the 2025 edition, he will be donning the colors of the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
On Tuesday, the 33-year-old all-rounder issued a heartfelt message to fans of the Royals franchise on his Instagram page addressing his exit and thanking them for their support over the years.
“It’s a decision that I haven’t taken lightly and one that took a lot of deliberation and thought. I think at this current time and juncture of my career, it’s the best time for me to move on to another challenge,” he told his 225,000 followers.
“I can’t thank you guys enough for the endless memories that we would’ve created over the years. I can’t thank my teammates that I would’ve played with over the years enough because obviously without them, none of the team’s success would be possible.”
“I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you who would’ve supported the franchise over the years and continue to support the franchise. It’s just unfortunate that, as they say, all good things must come to an end,” he added.
Holder was a part of both of the Royals’ title-winning seasons in 2014, under the leadership of Kieron Pollard, and in 2019 when he served as captain.
“I’ll always remember the triumphs we had in 2014 under Kieron Pollard and in 2019 in Trinidad under my leadership. That one holds a little more weight towards me, personally but both titles were equally pleasing and memories that I will always have for the rest of my life,” he said.
Overall, Holder finishes his Royals’ career with 1169 runs and 97 wickets in 104 games. Those runs came at an average of 17.98 and a strike rate of 129.60 with a pair of fifties.
His 97 wickets came at an average of 28.05 while he had a respectable economy rate of 7.80.
