Thanks to a pair of brilliant spells of fast bowling from Ronaldo Alimohamed and Nial Smith, the Guyana Harpy Eagles ended day two of their fourth-round West Indies Championship fixture against the Jamaica Scorpions firmly in control at Sabina Park.

The Harpy Eagles, after entering Thursday’s day two 260-5 off 90 overs at stumps, went on to a score of 339 all out in 109.2 overs.

Kevlon Anderson, who retired hurt on 100* on day one, carried on to make 116 off 187 balls including 13 fours and two sixes while Kemol Savory added 30 more runs to his overnight 18 to make 48 off 85 balls including five fours.

Odean Smith led the way for the hosts with career-best figures of 5-68 from 22 overs, his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket, while captain Marquino Mindley and Tamarie Redwood grabbed a pair of wickets, each.

Pacers Ronaldo Alimohamed and Nial Smith then produced a magical period of fast bowling for the Harpy Eagles to decimate the Jamaican batting line-up.

Alimohamed had the best bowling performance of his first-class career, so far, picking up 6-17 in 11.5 overs while Smith took 4-21 from his 13 overs as the Scorpions were bowled out for just 44 in 25.5 overs.

No Jamaican batsmen were able to get double figures in the rout.

Enjoying a first innings lead of 295, the Harpy Eagles ended the day 68-1 in 30 overs at stumps, stretching that lead to 363.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul and captain Tevin Imlach are the batsmen that will start proceedings tomorrow on 37 and 19, respectively.

Matthew Nandu was the only batsman dismissed for seven off the bowling of Brad Barnes.
