The West Indies Academy suffered a 75-run loss to Sri Lanka Emerging Players on day three of their first Four Day encounter at Coolidge on Monday.

The Sri Lankans entered Monday’s play 141-5 in 37 overs in their second innings, leading the hosts by 219 runs and ended up being bowled out for 219 in 58.2 overs, meaning the Academy had a target of 297 to win.

Left-arm pacer Nathan Edward was the star of the show with the ball for the West Indians with 6-23 from his 14.2 overs while left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop took 3-41 from 17 overs in support.

The West Indians subsequently had only four players score in double figures before being dismissed for 222 in 50.5 overs.

Ackeem Auguste was the only West Indian to pass the half-century mark with a well-compiled 82 off 95 balls including seven fours and five sixes while Carlon Bowen-Tuckett and Rivaldo Clarke made 43 and 36, respectively.

Left-arm spinner Dilum Sudeera picked up 4-51 from 14 overs while left-arm seamer Dulaj Samuditha and off-spinner Ashian Daniel picked up three wickets, each.

The second Four Day game starts on June 14 while the first 50 Over game is on the 21st on June.
