Thunder hammer Infernos by eight wickets to set up Legions clash in inaugural West Indies Breakout League final

The Leeward Islands Thunder booked their spot in the final of the inaugural West Indies Breakout League with a dominant eight-wicket win over the Windward Islands Infernos in their playoff game at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba on Friday.

The Infernos, after winning the toss, produced an awful showing with bat in hand, posting just 69 in 14.5 overs.

None of their batsmen got past 20 with Johann Jeremiah top scoring with 14. Jeremiah was one of only three Infernos batsmen to reach double figures along with Noelle Leo (12) and Dillon Douglas (10).

Anderson Mahase was excellent with his 3.5 overs of left arm spin, picking up 4-10 while leg spinner Micah McKenzie, off spinner Kofi James and left arm seamer Nathan Edward took two wickets each.

The Thunder then needed just 9.1 overs to reach 70-2 and secure a spot in the final.

Kofi James finished with 56* off 34 balls including three fours and six sixes.

The Thunder will now take on the Trinidad & Tobago Legions in the final at the same venue on Saturday.
