Cricket West Indies (CWI) president Dr. Kishore Shallow paid heartfelt tribute to Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, celebrating his unwavering support for West Indies cricket and his enduring legacy as he prepares to leave office.
In a statement, Dr. Shallow praised Dr. Rowley’s steadfast commitment to the development of the sport and his visionary leadership as Chair of the CARICOM Subcommittee on Cricket—a role that saw him push for greater unity and reform within West Indies cricket.
“Dr. Rowley is a giant amongst men—an unwavering advocate for Caribbean unity, progress, and the institutions that define us,” Dr. Shallow declared. “His tenure as Chair of the CARICOM Subcommittee on Cricket was marked by bold decision-making and an unshakable passion for the game," Shallow said.
Among the standout moments of Dr. Rowley’s stewardship was the historic CARICOM Cricket Symposium, held last year. The event brought together key stakeholders in the region to address challenges facing West Indies cricket and plot a path forward, a move Dr. Shallow described as "a testament to his determination to chart a stronger future for the game."
Dr. Rowley steps down as Prime Minister on March 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of leadership that transcended politics, reaching deep into the heart of Caribbean sport and culture. Under his watch, cricket—the thread that binds the islands—was championed as a tool for regional cohesion and pride.
“For all he has done—not just for cricket, but for the advancement of our Caribbean civilization—Dr. Rowley ought to be respected by every citizen of this region,” Dr. Shallow added. '
“His dedication, integrity, and commitment to high standards have left an indelible mark, and he will forever be regarded as one of the greatest friends of West Indies cricket," he noted.
