Deandra Dottin’s Gujarat Giants Women fell to their third loss in four games after suffering defeat at the hands of the Delhi Capitals Women by six wickets in Women’s Premier League (WPL) action at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

The Giants were restricted to 127-9 from their 20 overs after being put in to bat by Capitals skipper Meg Lanning.

Bharti Fulmali was the top scorer with 40* off 29 balls while Dottin contributed 26 off 24 balls in support.

Pacers Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey were terrific with the ball with 2-17 and 2-18 from four overs and three overs, respectively, while Annabel Sutherland snared 2-20 from her four overs of pace as well.

The Capitals then needed only 15.1 overs to reach 131-4 thanks to 61* off 32 balls from player of the match Jess Jonassen and 44 off 27 balls at the top of the innings from hard-hitting Shafali Verma.

Medium pacer Kashvee Gautam took 2-26 from her four overs.

The Giants are currently last in the points standings and will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore Women while the Capitals are first with three wins from five games and will next face Hayley Matthews and the Mumbai Indians Women.
