Jamaican sprint icon Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce captivated a packed audience at Shopify in SoHo, Manhattan, on Saturday as she continued her promotional tour for AFIMI, her premium haircare line. The event drew an impressive turnout, primarily of women, who were eager to hear Fraser-Pryce share her journey from the streets of Waterhouse, Kingston, to the global stage—not just in athletics, but now in the beauty industry.
In an intimate and engaging conversation, the five-time world champion reflected on her humble beginnings, describing how she washed her hair using an outdoor pipe and grew up exposed to the power of natural Jamaican ingredients. She emphasized that her deep-rooted connection to her culture and heritage has shaped AFIMI, a brand that celebrates natural beauty and is specifically designed for Black women.
