Jamaican sprinter Jerome Campbell was named the Most Valuable Performer at the 2025 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships after storming to gold in both the 110m hurdles and the 100m dash, delivering a championship-defining performance for Northern Colorado on Saturday.
Campbell, a senior, opened his gold-medal account in style by taking the 110m hurdles in a meet record 13.43 seconds (+0.1 m/s), a time that also moved him to No.11 in NCAA Division I and No.9 in the NCAA West Region this season. He finished well ahead of Sacramento State’s Zachary Winger (13.98) and Eastern Washington’s Madhvendra Shekhawat (14.10).
Just 40 minutes later, Campbell returned to the track and completed an impressive double, clocking 10.25 seconds (+0.7 m/s) to claim the 100m title, holding off Northern Arizona’s Khamis Hassan (10.51) and Kyle Smith (10.55), both of whom were left chasing in his wake.
Campbell’s pair of victories earned him 20 points for Northern Colorado and the Big Sky MVP Performer honour, capping a remarkable weekend that showcased not only his raw speed but also his resilience and tactical execution under pressure.
His standout performance also bolsters his credentials ahead of the NCAA West Preliminaries, where he is now a serious contender in both events.
