If her season opener is anything to go by, the 2025 season will be a special one for Bahamian University of Florida senior Anthaya Charlton. Charlton, the younger sister of world indoor 60m hurdles champion and record holder, opened her season with a massive personal best and world leading effort to win the women’s long jump on Friday’s day one of the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

In her first jump of the evening, Charlton produced an excellent 6.98m, bettering her previous personal best of 6.74m done back in 2023 while she was competing for the University of Kentucky.

Her second-round jump of 6.85m would’ve also been enough for a personal best and the win on Friday.

The USA’s Claire Bryant jumped 6.70m for second while Jamaican LSU junior Machaeda Linton was third with 6.63m.

Charlton's jump also puts her second all time in the NCAA indoors.

The men’s 200m saw Bahamian Olympic semi-finalist and Florida junior Wanya McCoy run a quick 20.45 to take top spot ahead of Tennessee’s T’Mars McCallum (20.76) and Arkansas’ Tevijon Williams (20.90).

Vincentian Olympic 800m finalist Shafiqua Maloney took top spot in the women’s 800m with 1:59.87.

She won comfortably ahead of Iowa State’s Makayla Clark (2:02.44) and Oklahoma State’s Kaylie Politza (2:03.47).

The men’s equivalent saw Jamaican Arkansas senior Rivaldo Marshall run 1:46.80 to take the win ahead of the USA’s Luciano Fiore (1:46.80) and another Jamaican Arkansas athlete, junior Tyrice Taylor who ran a personal best 1:46.93.

Jamaica’s Stacey Ann Williams ran 36.92 for second in the women’s 300m behind American Alexis Holmes (36.73). Another American, Anna Cockrell, was third in 36.93.
