The Jamaica Paralympic Association (JPA) has officially launched its "I Am Phenomenal, 360° Operation On Board" campaign as part of its Paralympic Week celebrations from March 10 to 16. The launch was held at Undercroft at the University of the West Indies.
This ground-breaking, all-encompassing recruitment initiative is designed to attract young Para-athletes, engage key stakeholders, and foster nationwide support for Paralympic sports. The campaign seeks to recruit and support athletes with disabilities by providing access to training, mentorship, and competitive opportunities. It will also mobilize volunteers, coaches, and medical professionals to enhance Jamaica’s Paralympic programme.
Additionally, the initiative will engage corporate sponsors, philanthropists, and sports enthusiasts to strengthen financial and infrastructural support for Paralympic athletes.
According to JPA president Christopher Samuda, the campaign aims to promote national pride and inclusivity by advocating for equal opportunities in sports.
“Jamaicans at home and across the diaspora are encouraged to join this transformative movement. As the campaign progresses, the JPA will establish strategic partnerships with key organizations, including the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ), social clubs, government ministries, and influential figures in entertainment and sports,” Samuda said.
He continued, “This initiative represents our unwavering commitment to developing Paralympic sports in Jamaica. By providing opportunities for talented individuals with disabilities, we are not only building athletes—we are building a culture of resilience, inclusion, and excellence.
“This campaign presents an extraordinary opportunity to champion inclusivity, celebrate resilience, and support Jamaica’s Para-athletes on their journey to excellence. Whether as an aspiring athlete, volunteer, corporate partner, or passionate supporter, all are invited to make a difference.”
As the celebrations continue, the public is invited to participate in the Paralympic Week National Church Service on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the New Testament Church of God, 49 Eastwood Park Road. This event is an opportunity for the nation to unite in support of Para-athletes and the broader Paralympic movement.
