NACAC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Secretary General Keith Joseph urged all member federations to solidify athlete participation for this year’s North American, Central American, and Caribbean (NACAC) Track and Field Championships, which returns to The Bahamas from August 15–17.
In a statement issued Monday, Joseph emphasized the significance of the event—not only as the region’s premier athletics competition but also as a critical qualifier for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, in September. He called on federations to ensure their athletes are part of what is expected to be a thrilling and high-calibre meet.
"Member federations are encouraged to get their athletes to commit to be part of the excitement, as NACAC Athletics, the most powerful track and field powerhouse in the sport, prepares to deliver an amazing spectacle just ahead of the World Championships," Joseph said.
The championships will once again be staged at the original Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium in Nassau, marking the second edition of the event to be held in The Bahamas. The 2022 competition was hosted in Freeport, Grand Bahama.
Joseph noted that planning is already well underway, with competition officials appointed and logistics rapidly falling into place. He expressed confidence in the collaborative effort between NACAC, the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA), and the Government of The Bahamas.
"It’s what you’ve been waiting for. It’s here. This promises to be the most exciting edition of our NACAC Championships yet. Already, excitement is growing in The Bahamas. Athletes everywhere have been anxiously awaiting the announcement and confirmation of the NACAC Championships 2025. The wait is over," Joseph noted.
As one of six area associations under the World Athletics umbrella, NACAC holds a special place on the international track and field calendar. All champions crowned in Nassau this summer will automatically qualify for the 20th World Athletics Championships, scheduled for September 13–21.
At the 2022 NACAC Championships, 329 athletes from 26 countries competed across 45 events. The United States have dominated the event historically, as they claimed the team title at all four previous editions.
