Jamaica’s Briana Williams was impressive on her way to claiming the sprint double at the Last Chance Sprint Series #2 at the Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California on Friday.
Williams, who trains in California under John Smith, opened her day with an excellent 11.03 (2.9m/s) to advance fastest into the final of the 100m while Trinidad & Tobago’s Michelle-Lee Ahye was second fastest in the preliminaries with 11.34.
The 2018 World Under-20 sprint double champion then returned to the track minutes later to sun a wind legal 11.04 in the final to take the win ahead of Lee Ahye (11.34) and Jaslyn Gardner (11.47).
The 23-year-old followed up those performances with a third win of the day in the 200m in 22.69 ahead of Brianna Green (23.46) and Aria Pearce (23.77).
Williams looks to be rounding into form nicely ahead of Jamaica’s National Championships scheduled for June 26-29 at the National Stadium in Kingston.
