Saint Lucia’s Sailing, Athletics, Volleyball, Table Tennis and Shooting Associations were the beneficiaries of more than $125,000 distributed among them by the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee to support athlete preparation, events and administrative needs.

The presentations were made by SLOC president Alfred Emmanuel during a brief ceremony at Olympic House on Wednesday.

The Sailing Association, represented by president Franck Chevrier, received funding to support two-time Olympian Luc Chevrier.

The SLOC has allocated approximately $2700 per month from January to August 2025, totaling $21,735.20, to assist the athlete, along with an additional $30,000 for competition preparation, bringing the sailing association’s total support to $52,557.10.

The Athletics Association, led by president Dora Henry, was granted $29,300 to host the 2025 PUMA National Individual Track & Field Championships, with the track events scheduled for the end of the month in Soufriere.

Three federations were reimbursed for expenses already incurred. Table tennis spent $4631 on airfares for the Senior Caribbean Regional Championships, now on in Barbados.

Number one player DeAndre Calderon is also in receipt of monthly assistance of $1350 per month between January and August this year, for a total of $10,680, with the aim of helping him qualify for the 2028 Olympics.

Sheldon Nicholas was handed $13,350 on behalf of the volleyball federation, which hosted the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association’s senior beach competition last month.

A shooting association representative was absent, but the sport is due to receive $10 000 toward an event last month, as well as a $5 000 administrative grant.

The SLOC has now disbursed more than $250,000 to affiliates since March. Team grants for the quadrennium have been extended to women’s rugby and men’s 3×3 basketball. The organisation will also award Olympic Solidarity Scholarships in due course.
