Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is set to open her 2025 Wanda Diamond League campaign in the 100m at the Jetour Doha Meeting on Friday, May 16, as she continues her season on the international stage.
Currently in China representing Jamaica at the 2025 World Athletics Relays, the 38-year-old icon is preparing for what is believed to be her final lap on the circuit with trademark focus and determination.
The Doha meeting holds a special place in her illustrious career, having won double gold there at the 2019 World Championships in the 100m and 4x100m relay. She also claimed victory in her last Diamond League appearance in the Qatari capital in 2021, clocking 10.84s.
“Doha holds a special place in my heart, and I’m truly excited to return for this year’s Diamond League,” said Fraser-Pryce, who opened her 2025 season in Kingston with a wind-assisted 10.94s (+3.1m/s) on April 19.
“From the start of my career, I’ve understood the power of the platform that track and field provides. I’ve been blessed to compete at the highest level for many years, and with that comes a responsibility to lead, inspire, and uplift the next generation, especially young girls who dream of becoming athletes, mothers, and business leaders. That legacy continues to drive me.
“My focus remains sharp, and I approach this season with the same levels of discipline, passion, and determination that have defined my career. Every race is an opportunity, and I’m committed to making each one count.”
Fraser-Pryce is a two-time Olympic 100m gold medallist (2008 and 2012) and a five-time world champion in the event—more than any other athlete in history. She is also the third-fastest woman of all time over 100m with a personal best of 10.60, set in Lausanne in 2021.
The Jetour Doha Meeting is the third stop on the 2025 Wanda Diamond League calendar, which spans 15 meetings across four continents and concludes in Zurich on August 27–28.
With each race potentially marking her final appearance in a city where she's made history, Fraser-Pryce’s upcoming run in Doha is expected to be both emotional and electric as fans prepare to celebrate the career of a generational great.
