
Calabar High School standout Shaquane Gordon continued his excellent form so far in this 2025 season with a new personal best to win the overall Boys Class 1 100m title the Camperdown Classic held at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday, February 8. Gordon, competing in Group A of the event, ran an impressive 10.34, the fastest U-20 time in the world so far in 2025, to take top spot over an excellent field.
Gordon entered this season with a personal best of 10.40 done in March 2023.
2023 CARIFTA U-17 100m gold medalist Tramaine Todd of STETHS was second in a season’s best 10.50 while Jamaica College’s Nathaniel Martin was third in 10.51, a personal best of his own.
This performance from Gordon comes just two weeks after Gordon, he clinched victory in the Boys’ 55m hurdles invitational at the New York International Showcase, setting a new stadium record of 7.01 seconds.
The 18-year-old reigning Carifta Games Under-20 110m hurdles champion, dominated the final, fending off Tyler Burgess of Palmyra High School, New Jersey, who took silver in 7.15 seconds, and Trevon Foster of The Hill School, Pennsylvania, who secured bronze in 7.19.
Saturday saw the Red Hills Road-based Calabar win two out of the three classes in the Boys 100m as Byron Walker sped to 10.71 to win the Class 2 event ahead of teammate Ched Brown (10.82), with Radeeki Walters of STETHS grabbing third in a personal best 10.88.
St. Jago’s Rajuan Romelly ended Calabar’s bid for a three-peat after winning the Class 3 event in 11.23 ahead of Joshua Dawkins of Calabar (11.25), with third going to Darrell Douglas of Jamaica College in 11.31.
