Despite a valiant effort from anchor leg runner Junelle Bromfield, Jamaica had to be content with the silver medal in the 4x400m relay at the CAC Games in Barranquilla, Colombia on Thursday.

Cuba won the relay in 3:29.48 with Jamaica three metres behind in 3:30.67.

Colombia were third in 3:32.69.

400m gold medalist Tiffany James, who ran the third leg, said the team was happy despite not achieving their objective of winning the gold medal.

"Yes, we wanted the gold but we got a silver but we're still happy. We are thankful and I know the rest of the team are happy," James said.

Bromfield expressed some disappointment about not being able to get her team across the line in front.

"I was trying to get the gold for my team but unfortunately I faded in the end but I am still happy that I got a medal because that  is what I came here for."
